Due to an ever increasing demand for oil and gas, companies in the MENA region have been increasing offshore interventions. These complex offshore operations need to be supported by suitable technologically advanced offshore support vessels. The increased demand for vessels, stringent regulations set by oil and gas companies concerned about the safety and integrity of their offshore assets, and the need for upgrading the fleet with advanced technology, make it important to discuss recent innovations and case studies in the OSV market.

At the first Offshore Support Vessel conference, participating companies included ADNOC, Qatar Petroleum, Saudi Aramco, National Transport Authority, Government of the United Arab Emirates and many more. This year, the 2nd Annual Offshore Support Vessels Forum will once again bring together all key industry players to address common challenges with respect to procurement, chartering, operations and maintenance of OSVs. Experts will get the opportunity to share knowledge and experience as well as to exchange ideas on how to efficiently manage their offshore support vessels and therefore improve the operational efficiency of their offshore projects.

Who Will be attenDing?2nd Annual Offshore Support Vessel Forum 2014 provides an opportunity for the industry key players to meet and discuss the latest development

in the market. Attending organisations include:

v National and international oil and gas companies: Heads of Offshore Operations, Heads of Logistics, Heads of Marine, Heads of Shipping, Heads of E&P, Commercial Heads, Heads of Procurement/Contracts

v Vessel owners and operators: Heads of Operations, Heads of Shipping, Ship Captains, Business Development Managers, Commercial Heads

This data, collected with the help of Hydrographic Survey Vessels, helps in planning and executing safe and efficient offshore operations. This particular workshop will focus on the following:

1. Highlighting the importance of hydrographic surveying and its role in the offshore industry2. Surveying locations of platforms, finding optimal routing of pipelines and positioning of drill rigs3. Using OSVs to conduct hydrographic surveys4. Understanding the capabilities of a Hydrographic Survey vessel, the technologies used in surveying and the vessel’s equipment

Workshop Leader: Capt. Fahad Al Amri, Surveying Services Division, Karan – 8 Vessel, Saudi Aramco

post-conference Workshop – WeDnesDay 16 april 201410:00 – 15:00 Improving operations by the use of Dynamic Positioning (DP) systems on board OSVsOver the years, there have been tremendous developments in DP technology. This technology enhances the manoeuvrability of offshore support vessels and therefore increases the safety of offshore operations. The middle-eastern region has been lacking behind with respect to the understanding and the application of DP vessels. Hence, this workshop will focus on:

1. Highlighting the latest improvements in DP technology 2. DP system design and adaptability on new vessel types3. Educating crew about the DP technology on board OSV
