Exterior research
my inspiration behind the exterior was I wanted to create a rather ancient looking city that seemed poorly made and yet defies the odds of science. I looked into egg sacs as I wanted the houses to look as if they had been laid there and left and I wanted to observe how egg sacs were attached when laid. Also because of how the city is named a thin city , I wanted to replicate that in my buildings where I wanted them to be long , thin , freestanding buildings to make the city look streamlined.
Low angle Exterior Research
With my low angle exterior I drew inspiration from my research into argia where the exterior was carved into the face of a mountain. I wanted to replicate this as I thought where else would a temple be? As I knew I wanted to have a religious angle to this city , following it`s defying science idea. I WANTED TO OBSERVE THE SHADOWS ,HIGHLIGHTS AND TEXTURES THAT CARVING INTO ROCK MADE SINCE I WANTED THE TEXTURES OF MY MOST DETAILED PAINTING TO BE BELIEVABLE.
Interior Research
GOING WITH THE CAVE AND ROCK BUILT ARCHITECTURE , I STARTED LOOKING INTO CONCEPT ART OTHER ARTISTS HAD DONE TO INSPIRE ME WITH COMOPOSITION AND LAYOUT OF ROCKS. I ALSO LOOKED INTO MAYAN,INDIAN AND GREEK TEMPLES TO REPLICATE THE ARCHES FOLLOWING THROUGH PILLARS TO GIVE MY INTERIOR MORE STRUCTURE AND LIKE THE ROOM WAS BEING HELD UP BY SUCH THINGS.
