By Line:VIBE magazine by line:

VIBE magazine is a magazine I have taken a lot of inspiration from. The magazine is in my genre and all of the featured artists are in my chosen genre. The whole layout of the magazine is cool, neat and tidy which is the same kind of vibe I wanted to achieve with my magazine. I think the way the by line is incorporated in the page is very original yet simple and also it looks good.

My By Line:

I tried doing the same kind of by line: I found a simple clipart image of a camera on Google (http://www.freestockphotos.biz/pictures/16/16819/Illustration+of+a+red+camera.png) and made up the small image that looks like a USA flag which is meant to imitate an article. I have made both of the names up as I think my name next to both of them would look stupid and not very professional. I chose to not put my name next to any of them as my name is long and doesn’t sound very professional compared to the simple and typical names I have chosen. I really like the idea of this by line and think it works well with my chosen genre which is why I tried to imitate my own using VIBE as my inspiration. The fact that the by line isn’t my idea has taken away the whole originality from it yet I still like it.

Article:

These are a few magazine article I really like the layout and stucture of. I think for my article I will do a Q and A as in my opinion it will be easier to ‘make up’. My Q and A will be about ‘Rihanna’… -The general questions that are asked in interviews are things related to: childhood, love life, upcoming releases, past big news, fans, single inspiration, upcoming tours ect. -My article will feature questions related to: fans, love, tours, clothing line, upcoming tour, single inspiration, home town, memories and childhood.

My article:Rihanna the sexy RNB star is believed to be the ultimate bad girl. But is she really all that bad? In her interview with Beat magazine she opens up about: Her emotional past, Her exciting present and Her even more exciting future. So we are all dying to know what is it really like to have Barbados as your home town? Is it really paradise? I wouldn't say it was paradise but it’s home, and home is where the heart is.How much has your home town influenced your music? When I was younger I used to wake up to music blaring down the street from the locals. It always made me sad that none of them really made it ‘big’. I remember standing in awe at the age of eight at some dancers in my local square. Ever since I knew that stardom and fame were for me. As for the culture of my town I would say it influences the way I dance more than anything. Dance is everywhere, nobody walks to the shop in Barbados everybody dances. So what is your biggest influence on your music then? Honestly Bob Marley is my biggest music influence however I have always looked up to Madonna, I love how she has bombarded the music industry and the charts for years… I want to be like Madonna, I want my fans to listen to my music years after I have written and released it. I see how they have influence your music and the style of your music yet where do all of the beautiful, sexy and vulnerable lyrics come from?I want my music to mean something to somebody whether they hate it or absolutely love it I want my music to be part of somebody’s life. Music has helped me so much over the past years and if my music could help somebody the way music has helped me I have achieved my goal in life. Your life is possibly one of the world most publicised in the world, does this effect your personal life? It used to really annoy me, there would be a new story about me everyday. But now I’ve learnt to take it on the chin, its just people only read the bad things because that’s the most entertaining. I’m not sure anybody in the world really knows one thing good about me ! I get critised for everything I do.

I’m used to it now though, I find it funny that from one week to the next the world is reading about whatever I have done wrong that certain week and really I haven’t really done anything. I’ve spent the whole week sat at home snuggled on the sofa watching tv.Have any untrue articles been written about you that you wish were true? The other week I was David Beckham’s new lover. David Beckham is my dream man, I mean look at his bum in those football shorts, but I’m not his lover. I bloody wish!David Beckham doesn’t seem like your dream man compared to some of your past lovers.I don’t know a female who’s dream man isn’t David Beckham but I always go for bad boys. I see them as a challenge they’re fun and although I’m always the one left hurting I don’t mind I’m quiet a strong person when I want to be. Also I blame myself for been hurt as I target people who I know aren’t loyal or aren’t up for long term relationships. Don’t blame yourself, everyone's a bugger for spotting challenges. You are the ultimate bad girl, do you think people spot you as a challenge?I wouldn’t say I’m a challenge or people spot me as one. I’m seen as this good girl who all of a sudden turned bad in 2007, but I’ve never changed/. Everybody is obsessed to find the reason that I became bad all of a sudden, and the truth is I was never really good at all. I haven’t been what anybody would see as the perfect daughter, sister, student, friend, girlfriend or celebrity but I’ve never acted good. Because that just isn’t me. ‘I was always bad!’ So why do you think people have this stereotype of you? I think I grew up and when I grew up a lot of things changed: my appearance and personality but most of all my outlook on life. I stopped letting people take me for granted and I think that people saw me standing up for my self for along time. People stopped seeing me as somebody who didn’t say much at all to somebody who had something to say about everything. I just stopped taking everybody’s S*#!. I am who I am and nobody will ever change me. Good for you, Speaking about your dream man earlier, we know your fans have a huge place in your heart but is there

anybody truly special in your life right now? Not at the moment, I’m free and single and enjoying life as it comes. I’m concentrating on my career and new opportunities. Do you have any main hopes for the future? I’d love to do some collaborations with some of the amazing new talent that are around right now. I’ve just released a clothing line with the high street shop ‘River Island’ I hope that becomes big. Also I hope that my future never ends. Obviously I know I will die, well I don’t want to die but yeah. I want my future in the music industry to carry on being as amazing as it is. My fans come out in their millions to support me and I don’t want to let them down. I’m sure you could never let the people who believe in you down, your doing perfect already. Who would you say your biggest fan is? My grandmother, definitely. I remember waking up one morning to her singing around house cleaning up. She has always believed in me and my singing hopes and dreams and I will do everything in my strength to make her proud. How adorable. Have you ever had any strange gifts from fans? I once got given a photo of a fan with their signature on, which I thought was cute and original more than anything. I don’t recall getting anything too weird or I would remember but I once got asked to signed a young mans abs, which was more exciting for me to be honest considering he was absolutely gorgeous.

This is my Q and A article.

Title:

This is the title of an article from VIBE magazine: I really like the fact that the title relates the article for one, also it is personal to the artist as it is the type of text you would find on graffiti in the street. I found a font a bit like this to write my title in. Instead of using the font to make a title I decided to use it to feature my pull quote ‘I was always bad’. I chose to do this because the double page spread style I have chosen means my article will be very small and I don’t want to cover half an article with a pull quote.

Page 6: Research

My Title:

This is my title. I have chosen to use the pull quote from my contents page and front cover as I think it creates obvious continuity. I have also done this due to the fact that I cannot really fit a pull quote into my article as it is so small. If I cut even more of my article out the actual quote wouldn’t have being in the article. I got the font of a website called dafont and it is called Amsterdam Graffiti. Then I added the devil horn and tail I think it adds colour and it makes it look more interesting. You can see the editing process I went throughand the changes I have made from draft to draft on my blog. This is thefinal title that is on my final double page spread.

Page Numbers: These are page numbers from VIBE, Q and NME. They are all different and all in different areas of the page. They are all in one certain corner though. All page number and extra things look simple but it isn’t only about the number. A lot of magazine have things such as dates, barcodes, scan codes, websites, mastheads, logo’s ect. on them.

Page 8: Research

My Page Number:

I have chosen to but my page number in the bottom right hand side of the page. This is because it is easy to see as you are flicking through. I have also decided to follow the way in which all magazines put their masthead or logo next the page number. I have added the date too just like Q and NME magazine do. On the left hand side of the second page on my double page spread I have also wrote the website, I did this because I was inspired by the way Q magazine do the whole bottom of their page.Q:

Main Image:This is an image taken from Lady Gaga’s magazine feature in the mag Q. I like how this image concentrates on her eyes and makes them stand out. I am not confident that my model will feel comfortable posing in this type of costume or pose but I will take this as my inspiration and see how it turns out.

This is my main image. I have tried to focus on making the models eyes stand out also I have chosen to make the image black and white which follows my colour scheme and creates continuity.
