In this regard, we would like to humbly request your good office for endorsement through a memorandum that would promote this event to the schools within Region VIII. Our budget will allow us to accommodate at most 2 schools per Division. Attached herewith are the PriMO guidelines.

As part of the celebration, the Pisay Math Circle, which is the Math Club of PSHS-EVC, invites your school to a competition dubbed as the "Primary Mathematics Olympiad (PriMO)" to be held on March 1. For the competition, we will be inviting elementary schools from all over the region to participate.

Every year, Philippine Science High School - Eastern Visayas Campus (PSHS-EVC) holds its annual Science, Mathematics, and Technology (SMT) Fair to celebrate and showcase the school's rich SMT culture. In this academic festivity, the school does not only invite members of its immediate community. To share the SMT experience with us, we reach out to other schools to revel in the wonders of the fields of Science, Mathematics, and Technology. This year, the SMT fair will be held on February 28 - March 3, 2017.

Formal Registration Participants may choose to accomplish the formal registration through an online form; or they can complete the registration process on-site.

Once we receive your message, you will then receive a reply from the organizers saying that your participation has been confirmed and that the contestant/sis/are eligible for participation in the PriMO. All text registrations must be sent on or before February 26. Participants who have not sent text confirmations may not be allowed to participate in the competition.

All interested participants must register through two stages: the text confirmation and the formal registration sheet.

REGISTRATION

1. The Primary Mathematics Olympiad (PriMO) shall be open to all invited elementary schools within Eastern Visayas.

2. The contest will be held during Philippine Science High School-Eastern Visayas Campus' (PSHS-EVC) Science, Mathematics, and Technology (SMT) Fair. It is scheduled on March 1, 2017. Registration starts at 12:30 PM.

3. The competition will consist of two categories: the Written Competition and the Oral Competition. Any invited school may send participants to either one or to both categories.

4. For the Written Competition, only Grade 6 pupils are allowed to participate. Meanwhile, for the Oral Competition, only teams composed of two (2) Grade 5 pupils are allowed to participate.

5. The delegation should be accompanied by one (1) teacher-coach. 6. During the competition, all participants must be in their school uniform.

For the Individual Written Competition, the Top 5 scorers shall be recognized. The Top 3 in the category will be awarded medals, certificates, and tokens. The 4th and 5th placers will be given certificates.

SCHEDULE OF ACTIVITIES

The contest organizers shall provide the answer sheets for the Oral Competition. No elimination shall happen after every round.

The oral test will be divided into the Easy, Average, and Difficult rounds. In the Easy Round (20 seconds), each correct answer is worth 2 points. For the Average Round ( 40 seconds), each correct response is worth 3 points. For the Difficult Round (1 minute), correct answers merit 5 points.

Team Oral Competition For the Oral Competition category, only teams composed of two (2) Grade 5 pupils are eligible to join. In the case that a participant is unavailable for whatever reason, he/she must be replaced immediately in order to avoid disqualification.

Individual Written Competition For the Written Competition category, only Grade 6 pupils are eligible to join. The test will consist of 30 short-answer items. The test must be finished within 1 hour and 30 minutes. Only blue or black pens should be used to answer the test paper.

THE COMPETITION PROPER

On-site registration. Upon arriving on the venue, there shall be a registration table for the PriMO. There, you will accomplish the official registration forms.

Once we receive notice that you have completed the form, we will send a confirmation text message saying that you have successfully completed the formal registration process. When you have completed the online form, you do not need to do the on-site registration process. You have been fully registered already. All online registrations must be completed on or before February 28, 2017
