Every Woman Southeast

What is Every Woman Southeast?

A coalition of leaders in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee to build multi-state, multi-layered partnerships to improve the health of women and infants in the Southeast.

Every Woman Southeast Objectives

Engage a wide range of stakeholders to develop the political will needed to build and sustain an equity focused, life course approach to MCH and preconception health.

Rethink and integrate program and policy strategies to support low income women and men in creating and actualizing their plans for a family

Reproductive Life Planning Community Grants

GOAL

To identify and fund innovative community-based initiatives that seek to work with traditional and non-

traditional partners to improve women and men’s capacity to plan childbearing and improve

preconception and interconception health using a life course approach.

What are we looking for?

Projects that take an innovative approach to increasing reproductive life planning (RLP) among young men and women in their community.

Projects will convene a diverse committee / workgroup and increase awareness in their communities about LC and RLP.

They will target populations with the highest risk for unintended pregnancy.

Projects may be an expansion of an existing program or completely new.

Grantees must be willing to participate in monthly calls with project leaders from other sites and help develop an implementation tool kit.

Dates and Deadlines

Applications Due: August 31, 2012 to Erin McClain at [email protected]

Number of Anticipated Grants: 8 with the goal to have one in each state (AL, GA, FL, KY, MS, NS, SC, and TN)

Anticipated Start Date: October 1, 2012

Anticipated End Date: December 31, 2013

Maximum Award Amount: $43,500 over a 15 month grant period

Who is Eligible to Apply?

Organizations that reside in communities in the 8 states of US DHHS Region IV: Alabama Georgia Florida Kentucky Mississippi North Carolina South Carolina Tennessee

Are there requirements for the teams?

Yes, applicants must show an interdisciplinary team that includes at least one “non-health sector” entity, such as representatives from: Business community Housing Employment Education Faith community Others - this list is not exhaustive

Can our proposal be based on an existing program?

Yes, this is acceptable as long as you demonstrate expanded partnerships and an innovative approach

What resources will be available to grantees?

Support from EWSE staff and leadership, including help with planning, evaluation and technical assistance

Opportunity to network with other grantees and the larger EWSE coalition to share ideas

Access to tools, webinars and learning opportunities with experts in life course and preconception health
