Just over 100 elementary students attended our Minimum Day Art and Soccer programs during the Teacher Conference Week, November 14-18, 2016. Art classes were held at Franklin, Kingsbury and McKinley Elementary Schools and taught by local artists. Students had fun making autumn and Thanksgiving craft projects and exploring with many mediums such as water colors, oil pastels, ink and more. AAA Academy was awarded the Margaret Clark Education Endowment Fund grant which allowed us to reduce the registration fee from $50 per student to $10 for the week. Coast 2 Coast provided a very popular soccer camp at Cram where students learned soccer skills using fun and engaging games and develop character traits such as teamwork and fair play. Eight after school programs are funded by the After School Education and Safety (ASES) Grant and contracted with THINK Together. These extended learning programs are located at Franklin, Kingsbury, Lugonia, McKinley and Victoria Elementary Schools and Clement, Cope and Moore Middle Schools till 6 p.m.

Redlands GOT Talent
The 6th annual Redlands Got Talent Show, sponsored by the Redlands Educational Partnership, was held on November 5th, 2016. The event showcased 15 talented acts from across the community. Longtime RUSD board of education member Neal Waner and Cope Middle School student Caden Henderson co-hosted the showcase. Three judges — Joe Banuelos, GOT Talent’s first winner; Toni Momberger, former Redlands Daily Facts editor; and Jeff Apmadoc, former RUSD Elementary Band director — helped determine showcase winners: Mathias Quilon, a 12-year-old 7th grade Cope Middle School student of Redlands (first place and Audience Favorite); Charlie Egger, a 17-year-old senior from Redlands High School (second place); and Y Circus performers Kylie Walsh, a 16-year-old junior at Arrowhead Christian Academy, and Madison Wingo, a 17-year-old senior from REV (third place). This year’s prizes were underwritten by Maupin Financial Advisors, The McGlothlin Group, Century 21 Lois Lauer Realty, Dr. Conrad Lucero and Uncle Howie’s Pizza. Proceeds from the event support REP Foundation programs for enrichment education.
