Our Vision A society where all elders are respected, productive, secure, and fulfilled.

Our MissionEmpower elders and their caregivers through choices and options that foster a vital life.

Our Core Philosophy We honor each person’s uniqueness and dignity and believe our mission will bring vitality throughout the life of elders.

We understand our society’s elder service system is complex and remain committed to our skill of providing the most appropriate choices and options in service and support that will bring confidence and peace of mind to those we serve.

We are committed to being on the “cutting edge” in innovative, holistic programs and services that are quality driven, ethical, cost-efficient and elder-centered.

We are committed to our faith-based tradition of service, which inspires us to honor our commitments and, to the best of our ability, serve regardless of religious affiliation or ability to pay.

This past year marked the 50th Anniversary of St. Andrew’s Resources for Seniors System! To mark the milestone, fundraisers were held at two St. Andrew’s communities, an Ice Cream Social at Tower Grove Manor and a Casino Night at The Willows. Thanks to the leadership of Karen Gosser and the assistance of many other volunteers, $27,000 was raised to provide financial assistance to residents living at Tower Grove Manor and Brooking Park.

Worry Less About Where to Live

Worry Less About Home Care

Worry Less About Being A Caregiver

In 1961 when St. Andrew’s was established, the focus was providing seniors with housing. St. Andrew’s provides housing to nearly 1,400 seniors every year at all economic levels. Donations help to provide safe and affordable housing to many of these seniors, who through no fault of their own, find themselves without the resources they need.

Resident Margaret Kohlhauff celebrating her 105th birthday

In 1981 St. Andrew’s expanded its mission to include providing seniors with services in their homes, allowing them to continue to live safely in their place of choice. These services include personal care, nutrition management, medication and diabetic management, escort, housekeeping, geriatric care management, minor home repair, home safety assessment and transportation services. Each program empowers seniors to live healthier, promotes dignity and safety…collectively producing long-term wellness. In 2011 we were able to provide these services to over 800 seniors in the community!

Caregivers are family members who find themselves in the role of providing assistance to see that the needs of an aging loved one are met. St. Andrew’s recognizes the needs of these family caregivers and for over 15 years has been dedicated to providing services and support, easing their worries and concerns. St. Andrew’s also helps over 4,000 local employees who participate in the Caring Workplace program balance work and care for older loved ones.

“It’s very hard to write when your eyesight is bad, but I sincerely wanted St. Andrew’s to know how good, kind, and helpful Paula was to me with the power outage. I stayed in my apartment because of health problems. She made me very comfortable. Many thanks to Paula!” Pat

“I don’t know what I would have done for Mom without Heather’s help and support. Saying thank you is not enough.”

Thanks to the generosity of many individuals, churches and companies, over 600 low-income seniors had an extra special Holiday Season! Seniors living in our low-income communities each received a Walgreens gift card, while over 40 seniors who we serve in their homes received generous presents such as clothing, cookware, fruit, gift cards, computers, furniture, TV’s and even a stove! The feedback from the seniors was one of appreciation and thankfulness!

The Hussmann Corporation came together this year to package and distribute boxes of food to St. Louisans in need at Thanksgiving. St. Andrew’s was one of three organizations to receive 75 boxes of food, each of which contained a gift card to Schnucks for fresh items. This donation truly made a difference in the lives of many of our residents living in our low income housing.

Dear Friends, It gives me great pleasure to tell you that 2011 was an amazing year for the Friends Board of St. Andrew’s! We increased the amount of funds raised to support low income seniors; drastically expanded the Adopt-A-Senior program by providing gifts to over 600 seniors; and continued to provide quality of life programs to seniors. We are always interested in finding new people to join us in supporting the health and well-being of seniors in need. If you would like to join our Friends group, please contact Ashley at 314-726-0111. Warmest Regards,

Alan E. Brainerd Chairman, Friends Board

St. Andrew’s was honored to be part of the first ever Ladue News Show House fundraiser! The historic home, once owned by the May family, underwent an amazing design transformation and was open for public viewing October 15th-30th. Many of the rooms in the home were decorated by St. Louis’s top interior designers and decorators, including Friends Chairman Alan E. Brainerd; their creations brought the home to life. St. Andrew’s was one of five charities that received funding from the event, over $3,000, and we are truly grateful for the efforts of all involved with this project!

Thank you to Marty London for donating 20% of sales from the grand opening of Dazzle Me Twice consignment boutique on October 22nd in the Central West End. Marty is a longtime friend of St. Andrew’s and we are grateful for her generosity!

On October 25th the Friends of St. Andrew’s and guests enjoyed a wonderful evening of art and cocktails at The Marianist Galleries on the St. John Vianney school campus. Thank you to Mary Alice and John Ryan for donating the party to raise funds for seniors in need!

Ageless–Remarkable Saint Louisans

On November 6, 2011, St. Andrew’s celebrated its 9th Class of Ageless—Remarkable Saint Louisans at the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch. The evening was magnificent due to the leadership and planning of chairmen Alan E. Brainerd and Linda Lee and co-chairman Anne von der Heydt. The highlight of the evening was the celebration of 20 amazing Saint Louisans, but adding to that were congratulatory video messages from 2011 Cardinals World Series Manager Tony LaRussa and Former First Lady Barbara Bush! In honor of St. Andrew’s 50th anniversary, longtime board member Marvin Wool and his wife Harlene issued a challenge to guests to raise additional funds, promising to match their contributions dollar for dollar, up to $50,000. Guests proudly met the challenge, helping to provide seniors with housing and services that promote their independence and quality of life!

Special thanks to Presenting Sponsor Wells Fargo Advisors and the more than 120 other corporations, foundations and individuals that helped to make this celebration a success.

Help Seniors Worry Less

DONATIONS RECE IVED

Make a financial gift of cash or stock. In these difficult times, the challenges are even greater for older adults who may have counted on retirement savings to cover their living costs, only to discover they no longer have the resources to fund the care they need and deserve. If we are to continue to provide service to all older adults, regardless of their financial resources, we need your continued, strong support. Please join us in our efforts to provide safety, support, comfort and quality of life to seniors and their family caregivers.

Make a financial gift of cash or stock. Ongoing gifts are needed to help St. Andrew’s care for and serve seniors and caregivers.

Make a planned gift. A bequest is one of the most common types of planned gifts a person can make. It is relatively uncomplicated and it allows you to make a real difference for many tomorrows. Please include St. Andrew’s in your will.

Make a gift to St. Andrew’s Endowment. A gift to our endowment enables you to create a permanent link between you and our seniors.

Consider a Charitable Gift Annuity. A Charitable Gift Annuity is a planned giving method that provides you with immediate tax benefits and guaranteed income payments that continue for life. The rate of return is typically higher than current rates on many other investment opportunities.
