REPORT OF CONVOCATION DAY

The first Convocation Ceremony of Don Bosco College of Arts and Science,

Kottiyam was held on Friday, 10th

August 2018 at the College auditorium. The

ceremony was presided over by Don Bosco College Director Fr. Wilson SDB. The

Chief Guest of the convocation Day was Rev. Dr. Valson Thampu, Former Principal,

St. Stephen's College, University of Delhi. Prof. Mathew Varghese, Former Principal,

UIT Karuvatta, also blessed the occasion with his presence.

The year 2018, Don Bosco College, Kottiyam witnessed the graduation of 61

undergraduates (BA-14, BBA-13, BCA-10, B.Com-24), which was indeed a

prestigious moment.

The Convocation Ceremony began with a majestic and grand academic

procession followed by the prayer song by the college choir. College Principal Dr. Y.

Joy welcomed the gathering. It was followed by the felicitation speech by Prof.

Mathew Varghese, Former Principal, UIT Karuvatta.

The Chief Guest of the function Rev. Dr. Valson Thampu delivered the

convocation address. The students and the audience were absorbed by the inspiring

speech of the Chief Guest. He also distributed the certificates to graduates. A sparkling

medals and awards ceremony was also part of the Convocation. Reji Baiju of English

Department and Abhirami P. S. of BCA Department were given the Special Awards

for their outstanding performance in PG Entrance Examinations. Awards were also

given to Department Toppers. Reji Baiju (B.A. English), Salvius John Perera (B.

Com), Abhirami P. S. (BCA), Aswani (BBA) were the Department toppers. Akshay

A.S. of English Department got the Best Student Award.

The Convocation ended with a Vote of Thanks by the Director of the College Fr.

Wilson SDB followed by the National Anthem.

SCRIPT - CONVOCATION 2018

Introduction

A very good morning and hearty welcome to each and everyone present here.

Today I feel immensely happy and proud that we have gathered here to congratulate

the go-getter victors on their graduation day. I am proud to welcome you all to the

convocation ceremony.

Talent and skills are the crops that are nurtured, groomed and given all possible

opportunities to grow and bloom. Graduation day is the celebration of the harvest of

this crop. This is a much awaited event in the life of every student as it gives the much

needed returns to the efforts put in by the students and teachers throughout their

academic endeavour. It is a day full of joy, accomplishment, a day of celebration. It

gives a sense of achievement and a sense of responsibility towards fulfilling further

commitments

There's a lot more to come: goals, challenges, and opportunities! Anything is

possible when you just believe in yourself.

A human being remains always a student. Throughout the journey of man the

process of learning never ends. All of our lives we keep learning from the things

around us from the experience we indulge and through the people with whom we come

in contact. We are gathered here today to celebrate the spirit of learning and the

success of the efforts put in.

Let’s begin the programme by seeking the blessing of Lord Almighty with a
