Report of Comenius Meeting in Izmir – TURKEY

Title of this Comenius Schools Partnership :“Buy Healthy Be Healthy”.
This report describe the Comenius Project Preparatory Meeting held from 24th to 26th of October
2013 in Izmir – TURKEY, when the project coordinators and their working groups met to prepare
and plan for the 2 years project a schools partnership.
Place: Gaziemir – Izmir TURKEY.
Total Partecipants: 34 People.

On the 24th of October, by 10.00 a.m. the group of participants arrived at Yahya Kemal Beyatlı
Primary School in Gaziemir- İzmir TURKEY and were greeted very cheerfully by the Headmaster,
the school staff, the coordinator of the project and by pupils' families.
For some of us this was the first meeting for such a project.
After the greetings and expressions of friendship to the partners, the entire group of participants was
received into the school’s conference room of where the Headmaster, Mr. Abdülgani DEMİRTOSUN,
addressed to all words of welcome and expressing deep satisfaction with the participation of many
European partners in the project proposed by his school.
-START OF WORK -
24th of October 2013
Presentation of the partner schools by the participants (headmasters and coordinators).
Definition of the deadlines calendar:
a) Before 17th November, report of the meeting in Izmir by the partner no. 2 (Istituto
Comprensivo “V. Tieri” Corigliano Calabro ITALY).
b) Before 22th November, all partners send results of entry questionnaire of the project.
c) Before the end of November, exhibition of the art products with natural and recycled
materials by all the partners.
d) Creating the logo of the project: Before 6th December each school will held a contest
among pupils to create a logo and the final logo will be decided and digitalized by
Denmark.
e) Within December Spain will collect and evaluate the entry questionnaire and prepare
a summary report about the results.
f) Jenuary 2014: Creating the brochure of the project: The brochure containing
information about partner schools and project activities as well as pictures will be
designed by Italian partners with the contribution of all partners. Later than the 23th
December 2013, all the partners should send their schools information to the partners
2 and 3 (Italy).
g) From 24th to 26th of March 2014: meeting in Vratsa – BULGARIA.
h) By 23th of April 2014 report of the meeting in Bulgaria by the partner no. 3 I.C. Galileo
Galilei - Montopoli V/Arno (Pisa) ITALY.
i) By April sent to the partner no. 1 (Turkey) materials about the environment to be
included in the project's website.
j) From 22th to 24th of May 2014 meeting in Næstved – DENMARK.
k) Before 20th of June 2014 report of the meeting in Denmark by the partner no. 5
“Ivancho Mladenov'' Primary school Vratsa BULGARIA.
l) By the end of June, the partner no. 1 must send the final report to the National
Agency.
At the end of the morning, a short theatrical performance by pupils of Yahya Kemal Beyatlı Primary
School.
After the show, the guests had lunch. The lunch offered by the families of the students.
After lunch all partners visit the Yahya Kemal Beyatlı Primary School’s classes.
IN THE EARLY AFTERNOON THE GROUP OF PARTNERS HAS MET THE INSTITUTIONAL
AUTHORITIES OF GAZIEMIR.
Visiting the Kaimakam ( official charged with governing a provincial district).
And then visiting the Director of Education.
Finally visiting the Mayor of Gaziemir.
At the end of the work day, visit to school's nursery classes.
25th of October 2013.
At 10.00 a.m. meeting at school and beginning of the day's work.
On this day the entry questionnaire was developed with the proposals of all the working groups.
This test will evaluate how pupils make their food choices, how much they know about healhy foods
and environment.
At the end of the work the Headmaster delivered certificates to all partners.
Lunch break offered by the Mayor at a nice restaurant outside the city.
In the afternoon, a short tour around Izmir and group photo in front of the old Clock Tower.
26th of October 2013 At 9.00 leaving for a short trip to Village Şirince

…and the majestic ancient Ephesus…
The end of the third day also marked the end of the meeting.
It was a meeting of mutual understanding and comparison of methodologies and educational organizations in the various countries partners. In Izmir have built the foundations of a collaboration between different school situations belonging to the same common country: Europe. It 's time to say final goodbye: the six coordinators come together in a single symbolic group that is the union of intent educational and teaching for the next 2 years of school and makes an appointment to Bulgaria from 24th to 26th March 2014.
