Chairman’s Letter Board of Trustees

As I enter my third and final term as Chairman it’s exciting to look back on the many accomplishments and great strides made by the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum.

The first phase of the Digitization Project was expected to take two years, with a completion date of September 30, 2017, and I’m thrilled to share is was officially completed in April 2017. With the first phase completed, the digitization team will move onto the next phase which includes a

significant amount of original blueprints.

Our biggest obstacle with the Digitization Project is not production but funding, with the project funded through the end of 2017, we will need additional funding moving forward. This is an important project that will allow greater access to approximately 100,000 archival items for researchers, writers, restorers, students, and many others.

The Museum received five additional vehicles from the estate of Guy E. Beatty in 2016. A special exhibit, which has been titled “The Beatty Bunch,” will be on display at the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum during the Labor Day weekend festivities.

It is inspiring to see all of the work that has gone into the Museum. None of it would be possible without the dedication of so many volunteers and donors over the past four decades. Thank you so much for all you do.

Best Regards,

Chuck SurackChairman, Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum

BuildingThe museum building, the museum’s largest artifact was constructed for the Auburn Automobile Company in 1929 after a design by A.M. Strauss of Fort Wayne. It is one of the finest examples of art deco architecture in the Midwest. The Auburn Automobile Company administration building housed the corporate showroom, executive and general offices, engineering and experimental departments, design studios and telephone switchboards until the company’s end in 1937. The museum building is considered to be its most significant artifact.
