I refer to my inspection of the above property on 25th November, 1998,to examine and report on the chimney and roof structures and put forwardrecommendations for repair or reconstruction works.

In respect of the chimney stacks, there is a slight lean on the stacksin a westerly direction, becoming more prominent above the projectinghorizontal stone band approximately 300 mm above ridge level. The stackstructures are stable in their present state despite the defects,however the upper part of the stacks above the projecting horizontalstone band, would in the long term, benefit from rebuilding.

With regard to the roof structure of the front westerly side of theproperty, the grey slates display significant concavity, resulting fromstrain of the supporting timber purlins which display permanent deflection.Whilst the purlins appear structurally sound, they would benefit fromreplacement, in order to ensure long term stability and serviceability.
