INTRODUCTION
This repair guide will aid you in taking apart your IBM ThinkPad T41 laptop to reach andreplace its BIOS battery.
Do not uninstall the battery when is Setting a Supervisor Password!

Step 1 — Keyboard
Close the screen and turn theclosed laptop over.
Remove all 17 screws on thebottom of the computer.
The multiple colors(turquoise, red, blue,orange, yellow, and purple) are fororganizational purposes, indicatingdifferent screws.
Your computer may have more if itstill has its optical device, HDD, orbattery. The yellow markers are thelocation of at least two extrascrews that we don't have.
Step 2
Remove the extra RAM cover, bylifting where the screw was andpulling out.

Step 3
Turn the laptop right side up andopen the screen.
Lift the keyboard, using a spudgerat the seam between the keyboardand trackpad.
Careful of the ribbon cableunderneath, which may tearif the keyboard is lifted toovigorously.
Step 4
Unplug the keyboard’s ribboncable, by lifting up the edges of theplug.

Step 5 — Trackpad
Close the laptop and turn it over.
Remove the five plastic stickerscovering the screws on the frontedge of the case.
In order to reuse thestickers, remove themcarefully.
Step 6
Unscrew the five screws that werehidden by the stickers.

Step 7
Turn the computer right side up andopen the screen.
Lift the trackpad assembly byplacing hands on both edges andthen pull towards you till it is free ofthe case.
Careful of the ribbon cableunderneath, which may tearif trackpad is pulled too vigorously.
Step 8
Unplug the trackpad’s ribbon cableby pulling on the white plastic tab.

Step 9 — RAM
Push apart the retaining clips onthe RAM.
Note: The RAM should popup a little bit.
Step 10
Lift out the RAM chip.

Step 11 — Wireless Network Card
Pull off the one black and one whitecoaxial cables by lifting the tabslabeled main and aux (forauxiliary).
Step 12
Push apart the retain clips.
Note: The card should popup a little bit.

Pull the wireless network card out.
Step 14 — BIOS Battery
Lift the yellow plastic-coveredbattery up.
