RENO REPORT January 26th, 2021 Dear AVS Parents and Community, Stay at Home Order Lifted As you are probably already aware, Governor Newsom lifted the state wide Stay at Home Order yesterday. This is an important decision coming out of Sacramento as it puts us one step closer on the prospects of returning to in-person learning at AVS. Despite the change in this order, Sonoma County continues to remain in the Purple Tier. The county wide Covid-19 cases do continue to decline. Current new Covid-19 case counts are currently averaging around 42 new cases per 100K residents, down from 55+ new cases per 100K residents a couple of weeks. This trend is encouraging and hopefully will drop to and get us in the Red Tier as soon as possible. As we get a little closer to the Red Tier, I will be emailing all families a survey. The survey will include general information to help guide you in your decision as to whether you want your child to return to in-person learning at AVS, or if you wish to have your child remain in distance learning. The information will include all of the mandated health and safety changes we are required to have in place on site, as well as our vision on what our distance learning modified program will become pending the number of families choosing to stay in that model for their child. I remain optimistic and will continue to monitor county data and state guidance over the next few weeks. Registration and Enrollment Reminder As a reminder the 2021-2022 Priority Registration window for residents of the district and siblings of students currently attending AVS ends February 1 st . In addition, current K-5 inter- district families wishing to have their child attend AVS next year need to submit two documents to our office, Inter-district Registration Form (signed by your home district), and the Attendance and Behavioral Agreement Form. These documents are due by February 1 st , 2021. “Independence” is our January 2021 Word of the Month! Through the school year our students have worked hard and have experienced new levels of independence in managing their school work, zoom times, and overall organizational abilities while being away from campus. We recognize how important the role each of you have played to help foster support and build individual impendence at home, all while in distance learning. Independence brings out critical and creative thinkers in our AVS Scholars! As we have joined our students in this unprecedented year of teaching and learning, we have found expected and unexpected moments which have fostered autonomy in our students. By

    Dear AVS Parents and Community,

    Stay at Home Order Lifted

As you are probably already aware, Governor Newsom lifted the state wide Stay at Home Order yesterday.

    Registration and Enrollment Reminder

As a reminder the 2021-2022 Priority Registration window for residents of the district and siblings of students currently attending AVS ends February 1st. In addition, current K-5 inter-district families wishing to have their child attend AVS next year need to submit two documents to our office, Inter-district Registration Form (signed by your home district), and the Attendance and Behavioral Agreement Form. These documents are due by February 1st, 2021.

By

providing experiences that foster autonomy, students have gained an increase sense of independence, or a feeling that they may be able to rely on themselves. Research shows this helps children feel more empowered and instills a growing sense of confidence. Being solution minded and knowing that an adult can’t fix a situation for a child if they are not physically present to do so can have a positive multiplier effect on the overall development of children. We have no doubt all have experienced that “productive struggle” we often talk about when it comes to teaching and learning and student growth. This month we highlight the following students for our Independence awards! Congratulations to Prima, Maia, Nina, Isabel, Ella, A.J., Sydney, Gia, Carrie, Santiago, Josiah, Davis, Stevie and Eleanor!

    Keep hanging in there!

  • REPORTE RENO 26 de enero, 2021

    Estimados padres y comunidad,

¡Felicitaciones a Prima, Maia, Nina, Isabel, Ella, A.J., Sydney, Gia, Carrie, Santiago, Josiah, Davis, Stevie y Eleanor!

    ¡Qué siquen aguantando!

    Director Reno
