Remote Spectrum Scope for the KX3 and K3 with LP-Pan February 2014
Starting with version 1.45 of Win4K3Suite, remote streaming of the spectrum scope is possible at a
44.1kHz sampling rate. There are a couple of prerequisites that need to be installed on the computer
that is attached to the radio and on the remote computer as well. You should also have Win4K3Suite
running remotely with Win4K3Suite Server. Please note that these instructions also apply to NAP3 if you
are using this with Win4K3Suite.
First download the VB Virtual Audio Cable available at
http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/Cable/index.htm
The software is free but the author appreciates donations.
Second download Video Lan Media Player (VLC) at http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html
Install both of these software packages using their defaults on both the Server and the Client.
Server Installation
Step 1: Start up VLC and select Media...Stream

Step 2: Click on the Capture Device tab and select Capture mode = DirectShow and Audio Device Name
to be that of the audio device you have the KX3 or LP-Pan connected to.
Step 3: Select Advanced Options.. and set Number of audio channels = 2, Audio sample rate to 44100
and Audio bits per sample = 16. Press the OK button.

Step 4: Click "Stream"
Step 5: Click "Next"

Step 6: Click on the New Destination combo-box and select HTTP
Step 7: Click on the Add button and put 56565 into the Port entry and /win4k3.flac into the Path Box

Step 8: Click on the Profile and scroll down until you see Audio-FLAC
Step 10: Click on the tools box immediately to the right of the drop down box you just filled

Step 11: Select Ogg/Ogm as the encapsulation and then click on the Audio codec tab
Step 12: Select FLAC as the codec, 512kb/s as Bitrate, Channels 2 and sample rate 44100. Click Save.

Step 13: Click Stream
Setup of Win4K3Suite Remote Client
Make sure you have installed the VB Virtual Audio Cable
Step 1: Start VLC and Select Tools Preferences

Step 2: Click on the Audio button on the left.
Step 3: Select "DirectX audio output" as the Output module and then "CABLE" Input (VB-Audio virtual
Cable) and click Save. VLC will remember these settings.

Step 4: Make sure the server is running. From the VLC main menu click "Media" "Open Network Stream"
and enter the following:

Step 6: Start up Win4K3Suite, open the IQ Spectrum at 44 kHz and click on the Control panel and select
Connect and then "Cable Output (VB-Audio Virtual) and then click OK and close the Control Panel
That's it!
Currently the remote operation only supports 44.1 kHz. Work is underway to support 96 kHz. Higher
than this will not be supported since the VB Virtual Audio Cable only supports a maximum of 96kHz.
Also please note that NAP3 will also work with Win4K3Suite in the same way if you use this instead.
