remote senior monitoring
DESCRIPTION
Care Technology Systems makes products that allow transparent, unobtrusive monitoring of seniors and disabled persons, allowing their caregivers to keep tabs on them while maintaining the dignity of independent living.TRANSCRIPT
Connecting the Dots with Remote Monitoring
“I don’t want a lot of change in my life. I’ll get along just fine on my own.”
We understand that remote monitoring is tough to implement,
and health plans want the benefits without frustrating their
members. With that in mind, we have designed our system to
be unobtrusive, with no user interface at all. The member lives
life just as they always have, while our system quietly monitors
activity and ensures their well-being.
In 2011, Care Technology Systems was founded on the belief that
all seniors deserve to stay home, stay safe, and live their lives on
their own terms. We utilize the tools of unprecedented technology
to make those beliefs a reality.
With Care Technology Systems, Care Managers can choose from
an array of solutions that include Biometrics, Daily Activity
Monitoring, and PERS. Medical data such as weight, pulse,
blood pressure, and glucose can help clinicians and caregivers
alike keep tabs on chronic and post-discharge patients. Activity
metrics assist with warning signs and early interventions.

WHAT WE DO/COMPONENTS
Activity MonitoringFall Detection, Activity Metrics, Safety.
Using motion, pressure, door contact, and flush
sensors, our system can indicate where the senior is.
They live their life as normal and our system quietly
monitors activities wirelessly in the background. Our
system identifies nighttime falls without the member
wearing a device. It detects falls that previously would
go unreported. Quiet monitoring, quick response.
No screens to touch, no new technology to learn.
BiometricsBlood Pressure, Weight, Pulse, Glucose.
Wireless biometric components for crucial medical
monitoring. Any or all components can be added as
needed and are customized to each member’s needs.
Personal Emergency ResponseActivity Metrics, Communication, Peace of Mind.
Automatically reports falls using a
triple-axis accelerometer. It also
tracks activity levels during the day.

It’s 9 AM: Mom is still in bed. Is mom
sleeping in or is it something more than
that? Our system has learned that she is
normally up by 7:30 each day, and just
to be on the safe side, someone might
ought to check on her. A family member or
caregiver receives an alert via text, e-mail
or phone and is prompted to check in with
her and be sure everything is in order.
2 AM: An exterior door opens. There are
very few good reasons for that to happen:
it could be an incident of wandering
associated with dementia, or even worse.
Whatever the case, we issue an escalated
alert that goes directly to our 24-hour call
center. They place a call to the residence
to determine the nature of the situation,
and if an emergency response is needed.

Fall Detection by Logic
Mom fell. But who knows that it
happened? It’s the middle of the night
and like most seniors, she doesn’t wear
her PERS device 24 hours a day. She’s
on the bathroom floor and could be there
for hours, and every minute is critical.
Situations like this are all too common
and that’s where Fall Detection by Logic
comes in. Our patent-pending system
captures those middle-of-the-night times
when a senior gets out of bed. If they
are out of bed for too long, our system
looks for activity like motion in the
various rooms of her residence. If we
can’t confirm that all is well, our 24
hour call center takes over and
determines the appropriate course
of action for the situation.

Predicting Falls
The most consistent predictor of a fall is
a previous fall. Fortunately, we can tell
you when falls occur even when seniors
won’t tell you and other systems can’t.
With Care Technology’s Fall Detection by
Logic and Auto-Active motion-sensing
PERS device, all falls are detected,
whether a senior reports them or not.
Our system’s ADL and biometric data
arms care managers with a robust set of
tools to determine when an intervention
might be needed.
