Today’s Message Spring Back to Life, #1
Spring Training: Back to Basics Introduction:
We are beginning a new series today that will cover three weeks this month on
Spring Back to Life. And we are going to deal with practical issues that we all deal
with during this time of year.
B. Let’s start with the basics, the fundamentals as we consider a "spiritual
spring training."
I. Spring Training is a Time to _____________
For Major Leaguers they have had a winter to think about other things and now
it’s time to refocus on baseball.
Many times we allow our minds to shift the focus off of God and that can prove
costly (Matthew 14:29-31; 2 Timothy 4:10; Luke 15; Matthew 6:33; Col. 3:1-2).
II. Spring Training is a Time to ____________
What do baseball players do to enhance their skills? They come together! The
team meets in a certain location and they work together as a team. Isn’t that
what God wants you and I to do? (1 Corinthians 11:18; Hebrews 10:25; Romans
12:4-5).
Our "spiritual skill set" needs to be refined in such a way that we are ready to face
what life can throw at us.
III. Spring Training is a Time to _____________
Each year MLB teams struggle through losing seasons and the chant, "Wait 'til
next year!" is frequently heard. Spring brings a fresh start for every player, team
and fan.
God offers that same fresh start for every human being (Romans 6:1-11; Acts
3:19).
Conclusion: A. You can have a fresh start today – come to Jesus!
