Dear families,
It has been another busy week at Paynesville Primary School. As you know Monday is the Queen’s birthday
holiday and school is closed. I am concerned that our children need to be more focussed with an increased
traffic load over the holiday weekend. Could families please remind children that we do get a lot more
traffic over long weekends and the need to be looking at what is going on around them on our roads is very
important. I hope everyone has a nice break and we will see you all on Tuesday June 14th.
Under 10 Prawns - Paynesville Prawns defeated Magic Dream Team. Best on court was Anzac Wakinson.
Under 12 girls Seagulls – Paynesville Seagulls lost the game but still played a great game. Best on court was
Melody Tompkins.
Under 12 girls Dolphins –Paynesville Dophins lost the game but still played a great game. Best on court was
Chloe Radford.
Under 12 Boys Sharks – Paynesville Sharks defeated Dog 17-16. In an absolutely thrilling game the Sharks
came from down by 10 points at half time to snatch victory in the final second of the match. Kohan Polaccov
was the hero going end to end to score the winning goal just before the siren sounded.
2 Square Tournament
Welcome Back Ebony
Basketball Results
Next week we will be running a Two Square Competition that will be running during recess and
lunchtimes starting next Tuesday. The grand final will be played on the last day of term during
lunchtime. There are four different divisions which are: Juniors, Middle, Seniors and Legends
(Staff). Interest is at a high level and many are eager to see who will be crowned the Paynesville
Two Square Champion.
Welcome back to Ebony Mooney. Ebony
is replacing Carol Roberts in the Grade 6
room until Mrs Roberts returns from
holidays. It is fantastic to see her part of
the team again at Paynesvile Primary
school.
Andrew Bould’s visit to the Junior grades
Royal Australian Navy Band Concert
There were a range of students from Paynesville Primary School who were invites to Bairnsdale
Secondary College to see the Royal Australian Navy band. There was an MC throughout the
performance who was explaining all the instruments and songs and making it fun for everyone. He
introduced all the usual instruments we have in our band but also included a bass clarinet, a
bassoon, french horns, euphoniums and tubas. It started off with the marching band full of
drummers that held their drum sticks up to their nose when they were resting! The 3 Amigo
trombone players put on a funny act. The concert band played numerous pieces from Bach to the
theme from Star Wars. And then the rock band played Taylor Swift’s Shake it Off and Bruno Mars’
Uptown Funk and they encouraged all the kids to get up and dance! Thank you to Jacqui and Andrew
for helping with transportation of students.
Andrew came in and showed the prep, 1 and 2 grades the lifecycles of insects. Andrew took
photos of insects and brought them to the grade 1-2 classroom. Some moths camouflaged
into the trees. We saw mushrooms glow in the dark. We also saw spiders camouflage in the
bark. We all had a great time.
