Remembrance Day in Australia is an occasion to commemorate and remember all Australians who have died as a result of war.In Australia, United Kingdom, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada and the United States, 11 November became known as Armistice Day a day to remember those who died in World War One.

On the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, a minutes silence is observed and dedicated to those soldiers who died fighting to protect the nation. The origin of Remembrance DayThis conflict had mobilized over 70 million people and left between 9 and 13 million dead. The Allied nations chose this day and time for the commemoration of their war dead.At 11 am on 11 November 1918, the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare. The allied armies had driven the German invaders back, having inflicted heavy defeats upon them over the preceding four months. In November, the Germans called for an armistice (suspension of fighting) in order to secure a peace settlement. They accepted the allied terms of unconditional surrender.

Just the people who are or were part of the army, the families, famous people and the people of the goverment have a code to dress in this special day.

The Poppy flower.Poppies have long been used as a symbol of sleep, peace, and death: Sleep because of the opium extracted from them is a sedative, and death because of the common blood-red color of the red poppy in particular. In Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand are worn to commemorate those who died in war. This form of commemoration is associated with Remembrance Day, which falls on November 11. In Canada, Australia and the UK, poppies are often worn from the beginning of November through to the 11th, or Remembrance Sunday if that falls on a later date. In New Zealand and Australia, soldiers are commemorated on ANZAC day (April 25), although the poppy is still commonly worn around Remembrance Day. Wearing of poppies has been a custom since 1924 in the United States.

What do people do?Many Australians stop what they are doing at exactly 11am in their local times on November 11 each year to dedicate a minute of silence for those who died in war, especially soldiers from as far back as World War I. Those who join in this act of remembrance include teachers, students, politicians, and workers of public and private sector enterprises. Many people wear artificial poppies on the day and key political figures make speeches in remembrance of the nations fallen heroes. Services are held at 11am at war memorials in suburbs and towns across the country, at which the Last Post is played by a bugler and a one-minute silence is observed. Remembrance Day has been partly eclipsed byANZAC Dayas the national day of war commemoration.

Can you hear Australias heroes marching? Remembrance Song. Can you hear Australias heroes marching? Can you hear them as they march into eternity? There will never be a greater love,There just couldnt be a greater sacrifice,There just couldnt be.Can you hear Australias heroes marching? The ones who fought, and gave their all.Can you hear Australias heroes marching? Can you hear them as they march into eternity? There will never be a greater love,There just couldnt be a greater sacrifice,There just couldnt be.Can you hear Australias heroes marching?Theyre marching once again, across our great land. Can you hear Australias heroes marching? Can you hear them as they march into eternity? There will never be a greater love,There just couldnt be a greater sacrifice,There just couldnt be.Can you hear Australias heroes marching?
