Litany of Remembrance Remembering Those Who Have Passed from Our Midst Pastor: Ever living God, this day revives in us memories of loved ones who are no more, named and unnamed. What happiness we shared when they were in our presence. People: Their memory is a blessing forever. Pastor: Months or years may have passed and still we feel near to them. Our hearts yearn for them. Though the bitter grief has softened, a duller pain abides; for the place where they once stood is empty now. The links of life are broken, but the links of love and longing cannot break. People: Their souls are bound up with ours forever. Pastor: And we remember as well the members who but yesterday were part of our congregations and community. To all who cared for us and labored for all people, we pay tribute. May we prove worthy of carrying on the tradition of our faith, for now the task is ours. People: Their souls are bound up with ours forever. Pastor: We give thanks that they now live and reign with you. As a great cloud of witnesses, they surround us with their blessings and offer you hymns of praise. Litany of Remembrance Remembering Those Who Have Passed from Our Midst

Pastor: Ever living God, this day revives in us memories of loved ones who are no more, named and unnamed.

We honor the names of those of our community who have died during the last twelve months:

Yes, it’s that time again! Leaves are changing, families calling to make plans, kids making decorations…But what if there were

items to create Thanksgiving meals for families who would otherwise go without: Boxed Stuffing, Gravy (can or mix), 2 Cans Green Beans, 2 Cans Corn, Crunchy Fried Onions, Cream of Mushroom Soup, Sweet Potatoes (can or box), Canned Cranberries, Fruit Cocktail, Jell-O, Pie Filling,

Pie Crust (pre-made or mix) $10 Grocery Gift Card from our UMW (see Dorothy Musil) for the purchase of a turkey

Food For All is November 20. Please bring your items to church through the 20th and the youth will deliver them to DenUm. Thank You!

Scripture: James 2:14-17

What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is

poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things

needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

ALL SAINTS DAY

Today! The Spiritual Life Committee invites all UPark members and friends to participate in creating a special Banner to be used in worship on All Saints Day. The Banner is in the narthex the next and next to the banner is a basket with leaves with double-sided tape. Write the name on the leaf in memory of departed family members and friends you want remembered and remove the tape cover and stick the leaf on the Banner. The Banner will be brought into the

sanctuary/chapel on today. The Banner is a visual reminder of all the saints. Please take time to stop and share the name of a departed saint and then worship with us.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

INSTALLATION OF NEW PASTOR

Sunday, November 6 at 10:00am, we are planning a very special community celebration. We will acknowledge and celebrate the ground-breaking and historical appointment of UPark’s first woman and person of color as senior pastor. We will honor our collective past and legacies, while looking forward, with great expectation, to a future filled with opportunities and God-sized possibilities. We will feature Rev. Dr. Melanie Rosa, Rev. Paul Kottke, our choir, praise & worship music and special music from Colorado’s own six time Grammy winning Jazz artist, Dianne Reeves. Our preacher for the day will be the new Bishop of the Mountain Sky area (Rocky Mountain and Yellowstone Conferences), Rev. Dr. Karen Oliveto. We will also publicly enter into covenant relationship with one another; and we will pledge our commitment (time, talent and finances) to honoring the vision, mission and goals of this one of a kind faith community.

PARKING INFORMATION FOR INSTALLATION Due to our limited capacity for parking, on Sunday, November 6, we ask that all able-bodied persons park on either the streets surrounding the church or in Daniels Lot at the University of Denver in order to leave as much parking as possible in our parking lot for those with mobility issues to accommodate the high volume of people expected to attend. Volunteers will help direct parking. Thank you for your cooperation.
