Hazardous Waste Disposal – Hazardous waste cannot be placed in the regular waste stream, so the Hazardous Waste Management System(HWMS) was developed. The HWMS is a joint initiative of the Office of Environment, Health and Safety and Science Stores and consists of theproper separation, identification, and packaging of the waste at the lab level, safe and effective internal transfer, bulking, storage and transport facilitated by trained technicians and detailed recordkeeping to meet regulatory guidelines. Hazardous waste removal procedure (calendar of pickup dates, forms, instructions) can be found on the science stores website at http://brocku.ca/mathematics-science/departments-and-centres/sciencestores/waste-disposal

Promoting Waste Free Events & Conferences – A Waste Free Event is one that reduces consumption, maximizes recycling, and ensures that products used can be reused or recycled.

Custodial & Grounds Service Units are part of the Facilities Management Department and they would like to assist in making yourConference/Events as “Green” as possible. We will provide the proper containers needed for the different waste and recycling streams generatedby your event (plastics, cans, cartons, bottles and cardboard). By doing so, we will reduce or eliminate waste that would otherwise be land filled.
