More Notes!!!
Let’s try to write some equations to go with a few word problems and solve
1. Write a one-step equation to go with the problem and solve:Jan has 32 more marbles than Mike. If Jan has 70 marbles, how many does Mike have?
Answer: Well, if we subtract the number of marbles Mike has from Jan’s, we should get 32. So our equation is:70 – M = 32-70 -70 -M = -38 or M = 38 marbles

1. Write a multi-step equation to go with the problem and solve:
Jan has 32 more marbles than Mike. If Jan and Mike have 84 marbles together, how many marbles does Mike have?
Answer: We don’t know how many marbles either person has, but.. we can say:
Mike has M marblesJan has 32 more than M or 32 + MIf we add these together we should get 84…….so…..M + M + 32 = 842M + 32 = 84 -32 -322M = 52/2 /2M = 26
