WELCOME TO THE LAKE NORMAN AREA OF NORTH CAROLINA
HUNTERSVILLEThe first suburban town north of the Charlotte city limits, Huntersville has grown from a small mill town to a lively area combining residential, specialty retail areas, natural parks, and historic sites. Notable attractions include Birkdale Village for open-air shopping and dining, Historic Latta Plantation, and the Carolina Raptor Center.
CORNELIUSWith 54 miles of shoreline, Cornelius is a hub for lake fun. Numerous lakefront neighborhoods dot the landscape, as well as waterfront restaurants and parks with lake access. If you’d rather stay on dry land, head out to one of the breweries in town; Cornelius offers a thriving craft beer scene.
DAVIDSONRanked as one of the ‘coolest suburbs in America’ in 2018, Davidson is a quintessential college town. Home to Davidson College, a ride down Main Street offers a glimpse into the town’s thriving food, arts, and cultural scene. Residents love the sense of community here and are often seen walking or biking around town.
MOORESVILLEJust north of Mecklenburg County lies one of the fastest growing towns in N.C. Once an historic mill town, then “Race City USA,” Mooresville is rooted in history and poised for development. Expansive commercial and residential development provides something for everyone, whether it be a luxury lakefront estate, a home in a planned community, or land on which to build your dream home.
SHERRILLS FORD
A true lake community, Sherrills Ford is a small town just west of Mooresville. With most of the town situated on the shores of Lake Norman, it’s no surprise many of the homes are waterfront. Find your perfect lake toy at one of the numerous marinas, then enjoy a sunset dinner at a local restaurant.
DENVERConsidered the quieter side of Lake Norman, Denver sits on the west banks of the lake. Its close proximity to Highway 16 makes it an attractive area for commuters to Charlotte & Hickory. Seek out one of the established golf or waterfront neighborhoods, and live the resort life all year long.
TROUTMANSitting between Mooresville and Statesville, Troutman is a quaint town where locals can fully embrace nature. Troutman is home to Lake Norman State Park, which boasts the region’s most robust mountain biking and hiking trail network. Many homes are nestled on wooded sites with serene lake views and wildlife “neighbors” including herons, ospreys, and deer.
STATESVILLEIf you are looking to settle in a more relaxed, rural area with a thriving arts and cultural scene, then Statesville is the town for you. Enjoy country living, then head into downtown for boutique shopping, local cuisine, and entertainment. Take part in a variety of annual festivals including the Carolina BalloonFest & Full Bloom Film Festival.
Moving to a new area and preparing for a new job can be overwhelming! We’re here to help you take the complexities and stress out of relocating so you can focus on your exciting career opportunity. This special area of the North Carolina Piedmont just north of Charlotte is dynamic and bustling. It has an explosive residential market, nationally-recognized school systems, is close to Interstate I-77 and the Charlotte metro area, has a thriving local economy, and of course, beautiful Lake Norman is in its backyard. The Lake Norman area is a great place to live, work, and play. Along Lake Norman’s 520 miles of shoreline lie some of the most quaint and livable towns in the state, each with its own special feel. We can’t wait to help you find your perfect fit.

TIPS FOR A STRESS-FREE MOVING EXPERIENCE
1. CLEAR OUT CLUTTERNow is the perfect time to purge anything that you do not use or do not anticipate needing or using in your new home. If you haven’t used it in twelve months, you probably don’t need it. Donate old clothes and furniture to local charities, or host a yard sale.
2. ORGANIZE PACKINGGather packing supplies: boxes, packing materials, such as bubble wrap, tape, markers, etc. Get more than you think you need; anticipate needing 5-10 extras for last minute items. Most moving supply companies will allow you to return unused boxes.
Create lists and formulate a packing inventory system. Number boxes and write the contents of each box on your lists. Color code boxes for each room with colored stickers.
3. DECIDE ON PROFESSIONAL OR NON-PROFESSIONAL PACKING HELPWill you be enlisting the help of friends and family or hiring a professional moving company?
4. GO WITH THE FLOW!Hiccups and unplanned circumstances are inevitable with any major move. Try to take them in stride and see your move as an exciting new adventure rather than a hassle.

TIPS FOR MOVING WITH PETS
Moving brings a lot of changes and is a significant event for everyone involved. If you’re a pet owner, this most certainly includes your furry friends! No matter what kind of pets you have, you’ll want to make the move as stress-free as possible for them. Keep these tips in mind throughout the moving process.
PACKINGWhile packing up the house, you want to make sure your pets feel safe and secure. Bring in boxes early so they get used to the process, rather than make them feel like it’s something sudden or startling. Try to pack up your pet’s belongings and the room they spend most of their time in last to maintain a level of comfort and stability.
On moving day, plan to keep your its in a quiet place or arrange for them to spend the day at a boarding facility or a friend’s house. Movers or new people in the house can be scary! The last thing you want is your dog or cat running out the door!
DRIVINGMost pets are not used to being in the car or a crate for an extended period of time. Help your pet get ready for the drive by gradually acclimating them to the car space with positive reinforcement. Place their favorite blanket and toys in the car, go for a short drive, then offer a treat when you get home.
Small dogs and cats should be in a clean, well-ventilated carrier/crate, and large dogs should be restrained by pet barriers or harnesses.
Plan to stop for potty breaks every2-3 hours. Interstate rest areas are the best place to stop with pets. Remember to always keep your pet on a short leash.
ARRIVINGMove-in day is a crazy time for every-one! Ensure the safety and security of your pets upon arrival by making sure electrical cords/outlets are properly covered, attics and storage rooms are closed, and windows have intact screens.
Similar to moving out of your old home, it may be wise to arrange for your pet to spend the day at a boarding facility or friend’s house. This will minimize their stress and yours and decrease the risk of them escaping through open doors and being in the way of movers.

NAVIGATING LAKE NORMAN
The biggest, and arguably the most beautiful asset in our region, is Lake Norman. Dubbed North Carolina’s “inland sea,” Lake Norman is the state’s largest lake by volume in the Carolinas. Created in 1963 by Duke Energy, the lake is 34 miles long with 520 miles of shoreline extending over Iredell, Catawba, Mecklenburg, and Lincoln Counties.
Lakefront property consists primarily of residential neighborhoods. There are just a few entry points for public access on the lake, maintaining a sense of privacy for homeowners. This doesn’t mean lake fun is just limited to those that live on thewater, though! A host of marinas, boat dealers, boat membership programs, and boat launches allow countless opportunities for recreation on the lake.
Whether you’re looking for paddle-board lessons, wanting to take a dinner cruise, renting a pair of jet-skis on a Saturday, or ready to buy a boat, you’ll find it all around Lake Norman!
