The Element Status Window is accessed via the right-click shortcut menu for applicable network elements that have an IP address or alarms assigned.

The Version 12.0 Element Status Window no longer includes the Port tree or a button. Those former features’ functions are now undertaken as follows:

RebootingTo reboot a Remote, select the IP node in the Remote’s Element Status Windoshown in Figure RN-1. Click Reboot.

The Remote reboot from the Element Status Window is enabled once the first Restore Point is completed (up to a few minutes after the Remote IP is configured).

Individual peripherals can no longer be rebooted.

Refer to Element Status Dialog Box Overview and subsequent sections in your Optima Prime User/Configuration Guide Version 12.0 for additional information.

Polling/Verifying SoftwareTo verify software as formerly done with the Poll button, use the Remote’s Restore Points tab in the Add/Edit Network Element window. Select View NE Details froRemote’s right-click shortcut menu to open the Add/Edit Network Element window. Click on the Restore Points tab. Click the Verify button. See Figure RN-2.

Collection Settings UpdatesThe Collection Settings tab in Version 12.0 System Preferences has been updareduce unnecessary network traffic and improve operating efficiency.

Users no longer must configure three polling intervals for legacy devices. These have been removed from the tab.

Version 12.0 makes configuration of Software Verification Polling intervals optionalSoftware verification polling is an ongoing background poll that checks for changes in the software configuration on Westell Remote devices. If a configuration change idiscovered, the new configuration is archived as a software restore point which can be restored to the device.

Users can schedule software verification polling by checking the Schedule polls for restore points box under the Collection Settings tab as shown in Figure RN-3. user then fills in the desired number of hours per polling interval, and clicks Update. A popup window will indicate whether the update was successful.

This enhancement was previously called the Software Polling Interval and was not optional. Users can undo the Software Verification Polling by deselecting the checkbox and clicking Update again.

Discovery of Remotes Using SNMP v1, v2c, and/or v3Version 12.0 accommodates SNMP v1, v2c, and v3 Remotes by using Connectivity information for hardware polling. SNMP v2c is the default version. This securityenhancement relieves system administrators of the former need to configure Remotes with SNMP v1 community names.

Key Product Configurator Functions Moved to Remote Web UIVersion 12.0 no longer includes the Product Configurator feature formerly used to configure Kentrox Remote devices of Remote Version 3.3 and older. Key tasks previously undertaken with the Optima Product Configurator feature can now be accomplished via the Remote web user interface.

Two Westell manuals detail how to use the Remote web interface to perform tapreviously done with the Product Configurator:

Kentrox Remotes RMX-3200, RMM-1400, RMM-700 and RMC-700 Remote WInterface User Guide (Rev A, Remote versions older than 6.1x; Rev B, RemoVersions 6.1x and newer.)

Remote Configuration Guide (for your Remote model, RMX-3200, RMM-140RMM-700 and/or RMC-700). Refer to the section Configuring Modules Using the Web Interface in the chapter titled Configuring Modules.

Change to Single Internal DatabaseVersion 12.0 simplifies the architecture by standardizing on the PostgreSQL databwhich now underlies both the OMS and the DMC. Optima previously used both PostgreSQL and Oracle.

Version 12.0 changes the list of services available under the optimacontroller command. The programs daemonwatcher, oms-loadbalancerd, oracle-optima, and oraclelistener have been removed.

SELinux Security Enhancements and Upgrade to RHEL7Version 12.0 adds SELinux to further enhance security for Optima Prime. SE Linux wilhelp to ensure that only authorized users can gain access to Optima Prime. These security upgrades are some of the Optima Prime enhancements accomplished with the upgrade to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7

Optima Prime Security Certificate ManagerStarting with Version 12.0, Optima server security certificates are no longer generated during Optima Prime installation, as in prior versions.

The new certificate is provided by Westell and installed on the server with the oms-sslcertificate=CERTIFICATE option of the optimainstaller command.

The new flag is required on all new OMS installations. It is not required for DMC serinstallations.

Optima Prime Installation Password Procedure ChangesAs a security enhancement in Version 12.0, the procedure to change the PostgreQSL password has changed from earlier versions of Optima. The command line toolsaidirectordbctl and dbconfig no longer take password command line argumeThe PostgreSQL standard .pgpass file is now used for this purpose. Documentaon the format of this file is available at postgresql.org for system administratorswant to customize their database passwords.

Support SSH Using only Strong Encryption and Hashing AlgorithmSSH client and server configurations have been updated in Version 12.0 to specify only AES encryption algorithms (SHA2-256 and SHA2-512). The key exchange algorithms reference only those which use SHA2.

Complementary SSH updates were made to Westell Remote Version 6.40, which requires Optima Prime Version 12.0.

New Optima Prime Login, Header PanelsVersion 12.0 heralds the start of Westell’s new “Optima Prime” brand, illustrated witdistinctive images on the login screen and UI display headers.

Note to Optima Prime 12.0 Users

Dell System Administration ToolsOptima Prime no longer ships with Dell system administration tools, and the optimainstaller command no longer takes the --no-hardware-admin flag.
