1 Preface

Dear users of AFAB-Evo,

the second AFAB-Evo release 2018 is completed and at your disposal.

We wish you lots of success in the application of the changes in AFAB-Evo!

2 Logistics chain for MB-Vans (valid for OC, Export, MBVD, only MB-Vans) Effective immediately, you can view the logistics chain of every order in the "Dispatch" tab. The logistics chain is a product of the POOL 2.0 project and represents the various points in the supply chain for the VAN division together.

The supply chain is generated for all orders that were posted productively before this release news issue and as soon as an order change is made or a generation is triggered manually.

2.1 Depiction of the logistics chain

The scope of the logistics chain can vary depending on the type of order.

In principle, the logistics chain is depicted in tabular form.

Each logistics chain is divided into different sec-tions with the corresponding attributes displayed in several columns.


2.2 Overview of the fields in the logistics chain

Field name Description

Step Abbreviation for the respective logistics chain section in which the respective route segment is located. • PROD (Production) • ZRFV (Period between plant-completion and in-plant collection) • ZRVE (Period between in-plant collection and in-plant scheduling) • OBL1 (Primary Movement-dispatch is within plant’s responsibility) • OBL2 (Secondary Movement-dispatch is within the market’s responsibility)- not relevant for MBD • DLT (Dealer Lead Time): This section describes the time it takes for the dealer to get the vehicle ready for

delivery to the customer. As a standard, the system currently defaults to a value of one day. As of Release 3/2018, it will also be possible to store specific values in the master data.

TA Shipment stage: Each logistics chain stage can contain 1 or more shipment stages (routes).

R-No. Route number: Number of the relative route stage. The route number can also be highlighted by the system:

• Yellow: The date for this section was calculated on the basis of a preset default value, since no specific in-formation is available.

• Red: The date for this section was calculated on the basis of a system default value (23 days), because nei-ther a specific input nor a preset default value exists and therefore master data couldn’t be extrapolated.

Date Designation of the respective event that marks the achievement of the section

TOS Transport location key for the relevant route stage

City Location of the respective node



Scheduled Initial, calculated date of reaching the stage. Normally, this scheduled date-chain only changes when the customer initiates a change to the order.

Plan/Actual Planned/Actual date of reaching this stage. As soon as an actual date is confirmed for the vehicle, this value is taken over and the planned values are recalcu-lated, where necessary. If the planned date is exceeded and an actual confirmation date is expected (data come from VANIS V.), the sys-tem automatically recalculates all subsequent dates in the logistics chain.

The respective row in the table is highlighted in green and is therefore regarded as completed, for supply chain segments for which an actual value has been confirmed.

Plan manual In exceptional cases, deviations from the master data can be entered manually in the system to trigger an update of the planned dates.


2.3 Manual generation of the logistics chain

For orders that were posted productively before AFAB-Evo Release 2/2018, the logistics chain is displayed as shown on the left (in green only for ve-hicles that have already been completed).


Switch to the “Process” tab page to manually trig-ger a generation or update of the logistics chain.

Activate the check box “Update Logistics chain” and confirm by clicking the “Request process” but-ton.


2.4 New fields in the selection filters

Due to the newly introduced display of the logistics chain, four new fields are now available for selection and may be applied to filter:

RA-AB-TOS (Route section – destination from): The route stage can be selected here through the AB-TOS.

RA-AN-TOS (Route section – destination to): The route stage can be selected here through the AN-TOS.

TAM-TOS-AB (Transport section market – destination from): Selection can follow here through the AB-TOS of the transport section market (not relevant for MBD).

TAM-TOS-AB (Transport section market – destination to): Selection can follow here through the AB-TOS of the transport section market (not relevant for MBD).


2.4.1 Application example for the new filter criteria:

As a result of the filter shown on the left, you will receive all orders completed at the factory and that have been transported by sea from the port of Pasajes Ancho to the port of Zeebrugge but not yet taken over (received) by the customer.


3 New function „Calculate freight charges“ (valid for OC, only Truck)

The new function "Calculate freight charges", which is now available in AFAB-Evo, replaces the existing tool for calculating freight charges in the Truck branch.

The calculation of freight and insurance charges for CBU orders with shipment from the plants Wörth (0600 and 1860), Aksaray (1521) and Trama-gal (1560) can follow based on the transport chain.

You can access the "Calculate freight charges" function relative to an order via the "Processing volume" and the "Workbox" or without making refer-ence to an order via the separate "Freight charges" dialog in the navigation menu.

This function can be used to compare different transport chains and transport media, to calculate corresponding offers and control ad-ditional costs.


3.1 Freight charge calculation without order reference Click on "AFAB" in the "AFAB-Evolution/MDC home page", followed by "Special Functions" and then "Freight charges".


3.1.1 Structure of the function mask

The mask consists of the following sections:

A. The necessary order data required for the calcu-lation may be entered here.

B. The transport chain is mapped or pro-cessed/edited here. You can copy a transport chain from an existing order or create a transport chain by using a route proposal.

C. In section C, you can define further input re-quired for the calculation. The detailed results of the calculation with assignment of the service charge keys are displayed here.

D. Here you can input orders for which the delivery costs are to be set.

The fields "Branch", "Area", "Area End-TOS", "Incoterm", "Length", "Width", "Height" and "Weight" are mandatory fields, whereby the field "Branch" defaults to "1" when calling up the function. The "Plant" field also defaults to "0600" (Wörth) as a standard.

The vehicle value must be entered if insurance is to be calculated.

3.1.2 Order data for the calculation

Start by entering the required data for the vehicle.

The entry for "Branch" and "Area" can be made ei-ther directly via the two fields, or by entering a min-imum 5-digit order number from which branch and area result (example: 18517).

For vehicles, whose dimensions and weight change during the transport chain (for example if bodybuilders are involved), the new di-mensions and weight can then be input in the right-hand column.

In the "From Relation" field, you can enter the number of the shipment stage for which the new data apply.

3.1.3 Copy transport chain

If you want to use the transport chain of an existing order for calculation, enter the order number in the field "Copy transport chain from order" and confirm with a click on "Copy".

The respective transport chain is then displayed.


3.1.4 Transportkette aus Routenvorschlag

Alternatively, you can use the arrow button next to the field "Create transport chain by using route pro-posal" to call up the selection for saved route pro-posals.

The transport chain is created by selecting a route proposal.

You can then process the required transport chain on the basis of the route proposals (see next step).

For a route proposal with postal codes (from / to), the postal code must be en-tered in the "P C" field, as well.


3.1.5 Edit transport chain

You can create a new section for the transport chain using the blue "Insert after" icon in the grey header.

Using the two blue icon buttons at the end of an ex-isting section, you can create a new section after the existing entry ("Insert after" icon button with yellow box at the bottom) or before the existing en-try ("Insert before" icon button with yellow box at the top).

You can insert an interim destination using the or-ange "Split" icon.

When you click this button, the "Insert interim des-tination (split route section)" dialog opens.


Select the desired interim destination and dispatch medium and specify whether the vehicle is to be re-turned to the plant afterwards, again.

Confirm your input with "Ok".

The interim destination is copied into the transport chain accordingly.

You can also delete a section using the red "Delete dispatch relation" icon.


3.1.6 Overview of fields in the Transport Chain section

3.1.7 Additional specifications for the calculation

Select the desired specifications for the calculation in the left column.

In the right area, the charges are displayed after completion of calculation.

You can select the corresponding additional charge keys in the selection fields.

You can save the additional charge keys you entered as default values by clicking on the asterisk icon. When you call up the dialog again, the additional charge keys will be filled in accordingly.

3.1.8 Overview of the fields for the additional specifications


Consider FOB-Values Indicator as to whether FOB-values are to be taken into account when calculating freight charges or not.

Calculate insurance Indicator whether insurance costs are to be calculated or not.

Anticipated profit Within the framework of the calculation of imaginary profit to be included in the calculation of insurance costs (10 % imaginary profit for MPC and agents, 25 % imaginary profit for authorities and direct business)

Administration Costs Indicator as to whether overhead expenses are to be taken into account when calculating shipment costs or not

Sum Freight charges Total freight charges determined (for display only)



Dispatch Total freight charges for transport (by truck or by own axle) and corresponding selection field for additional charge key

Sea freight Total freight charges for sea freight and corresponding selection field for additional charge key

Waiver Total freight charges for waiver and corresponding selection field for additional charge key

Insurance Insurance costs and corresponding selection field for additional charge key


3.1.9 Berechnung der Fracht- und Versicherungskosten

After you have entered all the data for the calcula-tion, you can start the calculation of freight and in-surance costs by clicking on the "Calculate" button.

The respective costs are assigned to the corre-sponding fields.

Click on the "Protocol" button to display a protocol of the calculation in text format (see Chapter 3.1.10).

The "Print" button generates a PDF docu-ment showing the calculated freight and insurance costs (see section 3.1.11).


3.1.10 Display of the calculation protocol

After clicking on the "Protocol" button, the entire calculation is displayed step by step, in text form. This facilitates transparency as to how certain val-ues were attained and others could not be determined.


3.1.11 Print calculation result

After clicking on the "Print" button, the result of the calculation is displayed as a PDF document.

You can save the document and lodge it, for example, with the order (e-File).


3.1.12 Takeover additional costs

The "Transfer additional costs for subsequent orders" area is used to set the calculated additional costs in one or more orders.

The prerequisite for this is that correct and valid additional charge keys have been selected for the additional charges.

For transport, sea freight, waiver and insurance, different additional charge keys can be lodged to display the costs separately in the addi-tional charges.

If the costs are to be stored as a total in the additional charges, the same additional charge key can be lodged several times for differ-ent types of cost.


Enter the order number for which you want to set the determined, additional charges.

Click on the "Set additional costs" button.

If an additional charge key has already been defined in the order, an error mes-sage is displayed. The existing key can be replaced by clicking the "Set additional costs" button again.

A click on the arrow button under "Details" opens the "Additional order numbers" area, in which you can also enter several order numbers or order number ranges.

The order numbers can be copied from Excel, for example, and pasted using the "Insert order numbers" option with the right mouse button.

The function "Set additional costs" is only available if you are authorized to process additional costs in AFAB-Evo.


3.2 Freight cost calculation with order reference When using the function with order reference, start by selecting the required order via the processing volume or via the workbox as usual (the proce-dure is described below using the processing volume).

Right-click on the selected order for which you want to calculate the freight and insurance charges.

Select the function "Calculate freight charges" in the dropdown menu.


3.2.1 Structure of the dialog

The dialog "Calculate freight charges" appears where the data from the selected order are already displayed.

The dialog consists of the following sections:

A. The header data of the order is displayed here.

B. This area contains the order data required for the calculation.

C. Here the transport chain is depicted and can be edited. You can also copy the transport chain from an order or create it by using a route pro-posal.

D. You can define further specifications for the cal-culation in section D. The detailed results of the calculation and the corresponding charge keys are displayed here.

E. Here, you can enter orders for which the addi-tional charges are to be set (preset with the se-lected order number).

Further processing is carried out as described in section 3.1.1

3.2.2 Possible error messages

Here is an overview of possible error messages, which can interrupt a calculation of the freight charges.

In case of transport by axle, a distance has to be specified. This is missing in the master data.
