Crisp sayılarda fonksiyon X rassal değişkenini f fonksiyonu ile y reel kümesine aktarır.

Mapping veya relation ise iki bağımsız değişken arasındaki ilişkiyi tarif eder. Buna Cartesianuzayı da denilir. Crisp değişkenlerde 12.1 deki gibi tarif edilir.
