They put the moonbuggy together again.

Each team takes apart its moonbuggy. *

The teams bring their moonbuggies to Alabama.

The two drivers carry the pieces to the starting line.

Then the moonbuggy is ready to race !

The vehicle had to move safely across the bumps.

They needed a special vehicle.

Astronauts first drove on the Moon in 1971.

The Moon is bumpy.

NASA scientists designed the lunar rover.

The astronauts will not pedal that lunar rover.

Astronauts will drive on the Moon again.

Now, America wants to return to the Moon.

NASA will need a new lunar rover.

So, why does NASA have the Great Moonbuggy Race ?

Driving on the Moon has many problems.

Some of these students may be NASA’s future scientists.

It needs scientists to solve problems and build things.

+

NASA needs more scientists to help explore space.

Students learn to solve problems in the Great Moonbuggy Race.
