Venice hardly needs an introduction. It is the city on water, home to Gondolieri in striped jerseys, floating along canals and singing in front of the Bridge of Sighs, a dream holiday destination. By the eighteenth century, it was already seeking profits from the tourist trade, leasing fine ‘Palazzi’ to foreign travellers. The city is composed of more than a hundred tiny islets, packed closely together around canals. The city is situated in a lagoon, protected by the longer island of Lido. Upon arrival at Piazzale Roma enjoy a tour by boat all the way to St. Mark's Square, and then a guided walking tour of city centre to admire the main buildings and monuments.
