Non- Commerce graduates are required to study the following subjects of the Foundation programme for self study purpose and to get acquainted with the basics of CS course

You may please check the contents of the packet and immediately bring to our notice, discrepancies,

if any. You are advised to read the syllabus and contents for each subject given in the first few pages

of each study set. Any complaint relating to short supply, missing lessons etc. received after a

fortnight of the dispatch of study material may not be entertained.

The study material sent by post bears the application number and/ or registration number.

Student registration number should invariably be quoted in all communications with the Institute. Study Material, Self-Test Questions

All the study materials have been prepared incorporating to the extent possible the latest amendments that have taken place up to the date of printing of the study material. Detailed course

contents for each subject have been given at the beginning of each study material. List of suggested

readings and books for reference have also been given for the benefit of the students. Some of the

law subjects undergo frequent changes either by legislative amendments or through Rules,

Notification, etc. issued from time to time. It is, therefore, essential for every student to keep his

knowledge updated and for this purpose he should refer to various judgements, orders, rules,

guidance notes etc. that may be published from time to time either in the Institute’s monthly journal

‘Chartered Secretary’ or in the bimonthly students bulletin titled ‘Student Company Secretary’. In case

therein. These are meant for recapitulation only. Their answers need not be submitted for evaluation.

Compulsory Computer Training

In terms of Company Secretaries Regulations, 1982 (as amended), all students are required to

successfully undergo a compulsory Computer Training Programme for becoming eligible to seek

enrolment to appear in CS Executive Programme Examination.

The Institute, in compliance of the above said requirements, has tied up with :

— M/s APTECH Limited for imparting computer training to the students of the Institute at

— M/s Sify Software Limited for conducting online exemption test for the students, who claim to

have adequate knowledge on computer operation. The students who will pursue the

computer training from M/s. APTECH LIMITED will also have to enroll for the and appear this

online exemption test to fulfill the computer training requirement of the Institute. For details

about online exemption test being conducted by M/s Sify Software Limited for the students of

the Institute; the options under Students → Miscellaneous on the Institute’s website i.e.,

www.icsi.edu may be referred to. The students may also directly refer to the portal

Student induction programme Every candidate registered for Executive programme is compulsorily required to undergo seven days

student Induction Programme (SIP) within six months of Registration. Students may contact the

nearest Regional; /Chapter office for enrollment to Student Induction Programme.

Quote Registration Number

Candidates desiring to appear at an examination must have got themselves registered at least

nine calendar months prior to the month in which the examination commences, besides fulfilling other

requirements laid down under the regulations. In other words, students registered upto and including

the month of August in a year will be eligible for appearing in the June examination of the next year.

Similarly students registered upto and including the month of February will be eligible for appearing in

the December examination of the same year.

However, a candidate may be allowed to appear in one module of CS Executive Programme

While making correspondence with the Institute, you must invariably quote your registration

number and complete correspondence address with pin code. Letters/Emails not bearing the

student registration number may not be attended to. Nine Months Criteria

examination, if he is registered as a student at least for a period of six calendar months prior to the

month in which the examination commences. Accordingly, students registered upto and including

May/November in a year can appear in one module of the CS Executive Programme examination

held in December/June next, respectively.

Class Room Teaching

Candidates who desire to join the class room teaching may contact the respective Regional office/

Chapters office with their Identity Card for enrolling themselves for class room teaching.

The Regional Councils and some of the Chapters approved by the Institute are conducting class room teaching for the benefit of the students. The class room teaching is Optional.

E-Learning (http://elearning.icsi.edu) In order to facilitate students, e-learning portal is available for the Company Secretary course.

Students throughout the country including rural and semi-urban areas as well as from other countries

can avail this 24 x 7 hours on-line study facility as the portal has global reach.

To access the E-learning Portal of ICSI the candidates may log on to http://elearning.icsi.edu .

CS Executive Programme Examination

Students are advised to submit the examination form through online services of the Institute at www.icsi.edu.

Examination fees

1,200/- Per Module (Rupees One Thousand Two Hundred only).

Under e-learning, students can have continuous access to studies and guidance of faculties on-line.

The e-learning module will enable the students to have access to learning and faculty support at any

time as per their convenience. Interactivity will be established by modules such as Discussion Boards

and Online Chat. Through virtual classroom facility, students will be able to interact live with the

faculty. This takes the CS Course studies virtually into the space age.

E-learning is designed to provide a virtual contact between the teacher and the taught. Students

intending to join e-learning are therefore, required to pay additional fees as determined by the

Institute from time to time.

Last date for receipt of enrolment applications for examination in the Institute:

(i) 25th March (with late fees of ` 250, 9

th April) for June examination.

(ii) 25th September (with late fees of ` 250, 10

th October) for December examination

Admit Card

Students may please note that the Admit cards for appearing in the CS examinations may be downloaded by the students approximately 15 days before the commencement of examinations.

Mark sheets

E mark sheets are issued to Foundation and Executive programme students which can be downloaded from the website of the Institute and the same are not sent by post.

Pass certificate

Pass certificates are issued only to professional pass students which is usually issued within one month after declaration of results.

PLEASE MAKE IT A POINT TO READ THE “STUDENT COMPANY SECRETARY” BULLETIN

PUBLISHED BI-MONTHLY AS IT WOULD ENABLE YOU TO PREPARE PROPERLY FOR THE

COMPANY SECRETARIES PROGRAMME EXAMINATION. IT CONTAINS —

All administrative guidance and important dates; Academic guidance; Study updates; Gists of

important legal cases; Gists of Notifications of the Government; and various other relevant

information and clarifications pertaining to Company Secretaryship Programme course. E-Bulletin can

also be downloaded from our website www.icsi.edu. A Guide to Company Secretaryship-Study and Examination

The Institute has brought out a booklet titled ‘A Guide to Company Secretaryship-Study and

Examination’ for the benefit of the students undergoing company secretaryship course. The booklet

provides useful guidance as to how to approach the company secretaryship programme course and

prepare for the Company Secretaries Programme Examination. Although it is a priced publication; but

is sent free of cost alongwith set of study material. You are advised to go through the booklet
