In partnership with the Standing Committee on Local Government and Cultural Diversity, Wangaratta Rural City Council and the Municipal Association of Victoria, the Victorian Multicultural Commission is proud to present the Local Government and Multiculturalism Conference: Innovation & Leadership on the Ground.

This conference will offer delegates a unique opportunity to learn about the outcomes of current research and examples of innovation and leadership from local Councils across Victoria, while also developing a richer understanding of multicultural communities and the challenges and benefits that cultural diversity brings to local areas.

Ideal for Victorian local government CEOs, Councillors, and senior policy/program managers who wish to effectively engage culturally and linguistically diverse communities in decision-making, planning, and service delivery.

The conference will include a keynote address by the Minister Assisting the Premier on Multicultural Affairs, the Hon. James Merlino MP, and an address by Mr Pino Migliorino, Chairperson, Federation of Ethnic Communities’ Councils of Australia. It will also involve several themed workshops, and a panel discussion which will explore issues relating to population and the retention of migrants.
