Walkthrough: registering for Windows Store as an “Individual” developer. This walkthrough includes only required steps without completing the Payout account settings. The latter is needed if you wish to publish paid apps.Focused on settings needed for Belgian residents.

We recommend you don’t use your existing Microsoft Account (like me@hotmail.be for example), but rather a unique account used for your apps(mygreatappcompany@outlook.com for example).The objective is to keep the personal mail account and your app account separate, imagine you grow to a million dollar business? ;)

Step 1: sign in

Use the account your created earlier or already possess

Step 2: input the Windows Store security code

A security code will be sent to your designated

email account by the Windows Store to

confirm your identity

This is what the email attachment will look like

If you are on Windows 8 and wish to bypass the security code you can

check this box.

Step 3: select the account type

Select “Individual”.This cannot be changed

later.

Make sure you select BELGIUM or

LUXEMBOURG, as applicable before

continuing

Fill in your relevant details and submit

Step 6: verify pricing and token

Input redeem code here if you have one (like MSDN Subscription

benefits) – leave blank otherwise

Step 7: input your credit card details

Key in your credit card details. The credit card no. must be a

valid one before it can be processed. Note that you will be

charged in case you do not have a token.

Fill in the rest of the details and submit

Key in the digits of the card verification

number (CVV) on the back of your credit card

Your credit card is required, even if nothing is charged. It is used for verification.

Step 8: confirm your order

The price will be set to 0 if you used a token, or

actual price if you did not.

Your account is now set up. You will receive an Welcome email to the

email address associated with your

Microsoft account. Click on “Set up payout

account” to continue if you plan to publish paid

apps.

If you don’t want to set up your payment account

now, click Continue to proceed on to your

Windows Store dashboard

Step 1: consult your credit card statement

To verify your identity, the Store uses a PICV challenge. In this challenge, the Store charges a small amount (typically between $0.02 USD and $5 USD) to the credit card that you used to pay for your developer account.

Grab your CC statement and get the 3-digit code or transaction amount

Step 3: Go to Subscription tab in Store PortalLogin to dashboard: https://appdev.microsoft.com/StorePortals/

Enter the amount from previous step and click
