Plenary Speakers
Dr. Efraim Armendariz: Professor and immediate past chair of the De-partment of Mathematics at the Uni-versity of Texas at Austin. He is also a recipient of the 1998 Texas Sec-tion Award for Distinguished Col-lege or University Teaching, and in 1992-93 he was awarded the Texas
Excellence Teaching Award in the College of Natural Sciences. Dr. Armendariz has been instrumental in developing and implementing the Emerging Scholars Program at UT which utilizes the model of Uri Treis-man and especially emphasizes the successful par-ticipation of minorities. He has published numerous papers and has been a much sought-after speaker, traveling extensively in the United States and foreign countries, including Great Britain and Korea.
Dr. Yolanda Moses: Professor of An-thropology, and a nationally recog-nized expert on cultural diversity. She serves as Vice Provost for Conflict Resolution and the Special Assistant to the Chancellor for Excellence and Diversity at UC Riverside. From 2000-
2003 she was President of the American Associa-tion for Higher Education, a Washington, D.C.-based higher education membership association composed of faculty, administrators, and graduate students. Dr. Moses served as President of The City College of New York from 1993 to 1999, and before that was Vice President for Academic Affairs and Professor of Anthropology at California State University, Dominguez Hills. From 1982 to 1988 she was Dean of the College of the Arts and Pro-fessor of Social Science (Anthropology) at Califor-nia State Polytechnic University, Pomona
Dr. Raymond Reyes: Associate Mission Vice President for Intercul-tural Relations at Gonzaga Univer-sity in Spokane, Washington, where he also served as Assistant Pro-fessor in the School of Education. Previously, he served as the Ad-ministrative Director for the Coeur
‘D Alene Tribe of Idaho. He has 28 years of experi-ence in Indian Education and professional devel-opment training. He has delivered workshops and seminars addressing such topics as multicultural education; emotional intelligence, diversity and organizational change and numerous other topics addressing culturally related academic needs.
