• More regions have positive population development in 2001-2006 than 5 years before

• Development 2001-2006 has favoured the most regions in Western and Northern parts of Europe

• Many regions particular in the Eastern part of Europe have experienced population decline

• Migration is the key driver for obtaining population increase in the medium term
