Executive Summary
This report summarizes the five events staged by five of the Project Partners until
30.06.2017. Due to strategical reasons and to avoid overlapping of events, the other
partners decided to host those events at a later stage of the project.
The participants were mainly SMEs due to the objective to inform them about the Smart
Space project and Industry 4.0 generally and further to support them in their digitalization
process. In total, 154 SME’s around France, Germany, Italy and Slovenia participated.
The general aim to raise awareness by presenting technologies, ideas and concepts of
Industry 4.0 was successful. Companies were able to learn about next steps as well as see
demonstrations and best practice examples of Industry 4.0 to see the impact and benefit of
the implementation.
Contacts for next steps in Smart Space as well as cooperation possibilities with institutions
were created to support the implementation of Digital Technologies.
In general the hosting of regional events can be seen as a success to help SME’s with their
digitalization process. Smart Space has been able to raise awareness as well as an interest in
technologies and their implementation.

SMART-SPACE – D.T1.2.2 Regional Events
1. Introduction
The superior aim is to improve the competitiveness of SMEs in the Alpine Space with the
help of Smart Technologies.
There for, as one of the first activities both an analysis of SMEs’ needs and awareness
campaigns with regional events opened to all SMEs are developed. These increase the
companies’ knowledge on digital technology potentialities, the added value for their
innovation processes and the entrepreneurial opportunities from their application. The
online survey collects information on SMEs’ needs, checks SMEs’ attitude to smart
technologies and the involvement within the project with a special focus on the selected
industrial sectors.

4. Results
Until the 30th of June 2017 the Project Partners organized and staged five events in their
respective regions. In this way, they were able to provide substantial support for numerous
companies in the Alpine Space.
The following subchapters are each designated to one of the events and are arranged
according to the responsible PPs.
4.1 PP01: Enterprise and Digital Revolution (27.04.2017)
The Chamber of Commerce of Venice Rovigo Delta Lagunare staged the event “Enterprises
and Digital Revolution: national roadmap and comparing experiences”. The 10 attending
participants were representatives of SMEs of the region.
The main content were parallel thematic sessions of round tables with the three topics:
creative industry, innovation tools for the agrifood sector and smart manufacturing.
After a general introduction of Industry 4.0 and the Smart Space project, the potential of
digital technologies was shown with the aid of concrete examples. The thematic workshop
was held by three speakers with the dual objective to enhance the awareness about the
impact of Industry 4.0 on enterprises. It was demonstrated by means of benchmarking
activities, the presentation of success cases, storytelling and informing enterprises on
international opportunities and services.
The three speakers were:
• Stefano Miotto, Politecnico della Calzatura of Creative Industry
• Roberto Santolamazza, T2i Technology transfer and innovation, subsidiary company
of Venetians CCIAA, Digital innovation Hub.

4.2 PP03: SEPEM (26.04.2017)
The 23 participants of this event on Industry 4.0 and digitalisation in PACA (Provence Alpes
Cote D’Azur) in Avignon were SMEs as well as intermediaries and authorities.
Discussed contents were:
• What is Industry 4.0?
• Presentation of the “tools” available for SMEs to have a diagnosis and to help them
to understand and implement their process steps towards Industry 4.0
• Presentation of solution providers to implement some technological bricks
• Explanation of the next steps to identify some solution providers for Industry 4.0
• Discussion about SME needs
The result of the discussed points and sharing good practices is a better understanding of
the contents of Industry 4.0. This makes it easier for SMEs to take action, follow the steps
