Wine Tourism
Central Macedonia is one of the richest in wine production regions of Greece, as the history of its wine starts from the depths of the centuries and reaches to this day.
Halkidiki has produced famous wines since antiquity, with testimonies dating back to the 5th century. B.C. Nowadays the vineyards are grown in central Chalkidiki, Sithonia and Mount Athos. On the sunny slopes of Mount Meliton, the dry-warm climate and the beneficial humidity of the Aegean Sea favor the production of fine wines from Limnio, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, Asyrtiko, Roditi and Athiri.
In Mount Athos monasteries there is a long tradition in the art of viticulture and wine production and in their vineyards with the mild climate, the great sunshine, the mountain dew and the sea breeze, today a large range of grapes is grown: white Rhoditis, Athiri, Asyrtiko, Sauvignon Blanc and Red Limnio, Xinomavro, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache Rouge. The Wine Roads of the Central Macedonia are designed and supported by the `Wine Producers Association of the Macedonian Vineyard`

Export Oriented Manufacturing
Export Oriented Manufacturing
The Region of Central Macedonia went through a period of rapid industrial and economic growth that shaped today’s urban network dominated by the Greater Thessaloniki Area and complemented by smaller urban centers
The manufacturing sector remains highly specialized in certain medium to low technology and labour intensive sectors. It accounts for a significant part of regional employment and thus is a factor of social cohesion and a key component of economic activity due to the intense and interactive relationship with other productive activities
Greece’s investment and growth revival has been the result of the government’s new National Development Strategy (NDS), which aims to establish a new investment-friendly environment and promote an export-oriented production model. This model is based on enhanced domestic industrial production of internationally tradable high value-added and knowledge-based goods and services, by increasing employment within the well-educated and highly skilled part of the labor force
