From the Principal - Mrs Maraga 4th September 2013
Regentville Rocks!
Our combined Open Day, Concert and Book Fair proved to be one of our best ever. The beautiful
spring weather provided the perfect backdrop for our entertaining and dynamic concert. All 670
students had the opportunity to perform to high energy music for the appreciative crowd. We were
entertained by various ensemble performances including our band, choir and dance groups. Our
gardening club students sold fresh produce from our school gardens and our guests had the
opportunity to enjoy a sausage sizzle, cakes and drinks whilst enjoying the atmosphere.
Thank you for coming along and celebrating the great work that happens at our school each and
every day!
District Athletics Carnival
Congratulations to all the students who represented our school at the District Athletics Carnival last
week. All our athletes certainly strived to achieve their personal best over the two days. Our school
has 21 students now going to the Regional Carnival following their success at the District
Competition.
Safe Travelling
Last week children were reminded in Assembly of the importance of walking to and from school in
a quick and safe manner. Parents are asked to remind their children of safe practices when travelling
to and from school. If your child rides a bike to school please ensure that they wear their helmet and
are aware of road rules. Your assistance in reinforcing the messages delivered at school is
appreciated.
Helping your child choose right from wrong
How do you raise ethically aware children? In this audio discussion, Dr Simon Longstaff from the
St James Ethics Centre explains some ideas to James O'Loghlin.

Preparing for Year 7
The transition from primary school to high school maths can be difficult for both you and your child.
However, by working in partnership with your child and using some careful forward planning, the
transition can be smooth and successful.

Numbers fun
Learning to count forwards and backwards from a given number helps children with solving
addition and subtraction problems. Use these great worksheets to help your child learn about number
ordering.

Regentville Rocks was yesterday and we saw some fancy dance moves. Then
we did some fancy dance moves too.
Regentville Rocks is the best day ever. I liked when
we performed. I watched my brothers perform and one

brother danced with his class.

Regentville Rocks was the best day ever. Regentville
was the best because my Jill and Poppy and my

REGENTVILLE PUBLIC SCHOOL
ACTION RESEARCH PROJECT 2013
Regentville Public School is currently participating in the CC21 Project which involves an
action research direction within our school that focusses on the Australian Curriculum and
how technology is implemented into our school to support both teaching and learning.
The project focusses on:
The school’s current context including their school goals and plans for 2013, the existing
technology and planned developments.
The current pedagogical and technology skills of the school and staff, and how participation in
this project will advance our strategic goals.
This project for Regentville has taken two directions with the key emphasis on ‘Focus on
Reading’ with the concentration on technology within our school and how we can enhance
this to promote both teaching and learning experiences for staff and students.
Regentville Public School will showcase their Project at Macquarie University on Tuesday
10th September 2013 between 4pm and 6pm and our school community students and families
are all invited to attend. The cost of this event is free although, guests will need to pay for
