REFUGEE ASYLUM SEEKER A refugee is someone who has been recognised as needing protection because of a well-founded fear of being persecuted in their home country on the basis of their race, relation, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion.
An asylum seeker is an individual who is seeking international protection and whose claim for refugee status has not yet been decided.
How many refugees are there in the world?

refugees from Iraq and Myanmar. Thousands are
resettled in Australia.

resettlement program is allocated to refugees from
the African continent, including Burundi, the
Democratic Republic of the Congo, Liberia, Sierra, Leone,
Somalia and Sudan.
1992–2002More than 39,000 refugees
and other humanitarian cases are resettled in
