In term of teaching skill, the teacher did show the confidence of a typical teacher in class observation and management as well as the professionalism in motivating the learners. However, there are certain weaknesses which require improvements. Firstly, in the aspect of teachers’ pedagogical skills, the teacher should not point at the leaners and the fact that teacher gave lot of extra marks and gifts all the time to motivate leaners is not always good and should be carefully considered. In addition, teacher’s using doubled sided tape sticker may be hard to be cleaned later on and may cause damage to the board and this should be avoided. Secondly, in term of class management, in the exercise “fill in the blank”, the way of dividing class in two groups is not good. The size of group at the current time would be too big with lots of students while each group just had 5 stickers. This means that some would work and the other did not join in the activity. Thirdly, the lead-in activity took lot of time unnecessarily and this caused insufficient time for the later task. Besides, in the reading comprehension activity, the teacher’s instruction was not clear and specific enough and may confuse the learners.

REFLECTION ON GROUP 6’S MICRO TEACHING

In a class of 25 students at basic level of English, a reading lesson was instructed in

about 20 minutes by a teacher with help of one assistant. Generally, the lesson was done

rather well despite of some limitations that need improving.

As what can be seen, the micro-teaching had some strong points that we really

appreciate. In term of content, the steps of a skill lesson can be shown very clearly: pre-

reading, while-reading and post-reading and the topic chosen “online relationship” is reallyauthentic and interesting. In addition, the content and the task organization show that it was

prepared very well by the teacher and his/her group members. In term of teaching skill, the

teacher did show the confidence of a typical teacher in class observation and management

as well as the professionalism in motivating the learners.

However, there are certain weaknesses which require improvements. Firstly, in the

aspect of teachers’ pedagogical skills, the teacher should not point at the leaners and thefact that teacher gave lot of extra marks and gifts all the time to motivate leaners is not

always good and should be carefully considered. In addition, teacher’s using doubled sidedtape sticker may be hard to be cleaned later on and may cause damage to the board and this

should be avoided. Secondly, in term of class management, in the exercise “fill in theblank”, the way of dividing class in two groups is not good. The size of group at the currenttime would be too big with lots of students while each group just had 5 stickers. This means

that some would work and the other did not join in the activity. Thirdly, the lead-in activity

took lot of time unnecessarily and this caused insufficient time for the later task. Besides,

in the reading comprehension activity, the teacher’s instruction was not clear and specificenough and may confuse the learners.

Basing on the limitations above, there are some needed improvements. In “fill in theblank” activity, the teacher should divide class into four groups instead of two and givemore stickers to involve all the learners into the task and no leaners are free. Besides,

Instead of using double sided tape stickers, some other suitable tools should be used to

minimize the damage to the school faculties. To maximize the effective of PowerPoint,

some more games should be exploited. In addition, the handouts should be delivered at

suitable time with clear instruction.

In short, although there were some small weaknesses during the procedure ofteaching mainly in term of class management and instruction-giving, the lesson can beconsidered successful. However, appropriately using some suggestions above, the teachercan better the effectiveness of teaching a lot.
