1) Enter http://10.4.9.100/redmine/ in your browser window. (This is an internal ipaddress for IITM. Currently external access is restricted.)2) You will see a home screen as following. (Figure 1)3) Click on “Sign in” in right hand top corner. Use existing “Aaditya” login id andpassword. (Figure 2)

4) After sigining in, you will see a registration page as follows. (Figure 3)5) Fill in required fields and your redmine account will be automatically activated.

Figure 3 Initial Registration Window6) Once your account has been activated, you will see following webpage which listsuser settings.(Figure 4)
Figure 4 User Settings Page7) As a normal Aaditya user, you will be added into project “Aaditya ApplicationSupport”. The project administrator will add you to this project. After you are addedinto project, you will see following webpage as your homepage on sign in. (Figure 5).This gives a recent snapshot of your activities and lists your projects.
Figure 5 User Home Page8) “Aaditya Application Support” project is designed to keep track of all the openissues and establish a common user knowledge database. Click on this project link andfollowing webpage will load. (Figure 6)
Figure 6 Aaditya Application Support Project Home Page9) The project home page gives a quick overview of the project. It lists open issues onthe left hand side and members on the right hand side. Each member is assigend oneor more types of role. A common Aaditya user will be assigned a role of “Reporter”while the support staff will be assigned the role of “Manager” or “Developer”
The top bar (Figure 6) lists various tabs associated with this project. Here is a shortdescription of each tab.
• Overview – Project overview• Activity – Lists recent activity under this project• Issue – List of all reported issues under this project. This list can be filtered
based on various criteria such as priority, new, open, closed, in progress,rejected etc. Users can search through this list to find if similar issues havebeen previously reported and resolved.
• New Issue – Create a new issue here.• Gantt – Gantt chart of proposed activity.• Calender – Use the calender for meetings, scheduled activity etc.• News – Any project related news items announced by project manager.• Documents – Supporting documents• Wiki – Common wiki items• Files – Files related to project
10) As a common user, you can create a new issue as follows. Click on “New issue”tab on top. (Figure 6)11) Following new issue webpage will load. (Figure 7)
Figure 7 New Issue Webpage12) Select appropriate type of tracker based on your issue. Add the subject line andshort description of the issue. You can set the priority of the issue (Figure 7) asnormal, low, high , urgent, immediate from the drop down menu. Do not selectanything from asignee list as it will be managed by support staff.Additionally you may upload small files which migh be useful for resolving your issue.Click on “Create” to create the issue.
13) After successful creation of issue, following webpage will appear. (Figure 8)
Figure 8 New issue details14) Support staff will update the issue and post their solutions to your issues on thispage. You may add more information to this issue by clicking edit button in bottomright corner (Figure 8). You can keep on adding the information till the issue is closed.15) After creation of issue you will receive an automatic email from redmine system.You may not reply to this email. The issue can be updated through redmine systemand any subsequent updates regarding issue are automatically communicated byemail.Type of email notification can be changed via user setting by clicking on “MyAccount” in top right hand corner.
