We would like to welcome you to and look forward to seeing you at our Annual

RANGE CALVED – RANGE RAISED® Production Sale, November 19, 2011 in Buffalo Wyoming.

We are in a time when cow numbers nationwide are at historic lows for the last 50 years and

there is building optimism in the cattle business. Interest is increasing each year for producing

quality beef at a lower cost.

We continue to be very pleased with our RANGE CALVED – RANGE RAISED® method of raising

cattle. All of our cows calve out by themselves, under range conditions. The advantage to you

as a buyer is that by the time the genetics reach you through the bulls, any problems have been

sorted out by natural selection. If they won’t work, they don’t survive to breed any problems into

your herd.

We have worked to align our genetics to fit our environment. The true value of a beef cow is her

ability to convert forage to protein. Our goal is to provide ranchers with the type of genetics that

will allow them to do this with as large a net profit as possible. She must be productive, easy

fleshing, moderate framed & fertile with an excellent udder. No machine can begin to compete

in efficiency or cost of operation with a grazing cow.

You will note the heavy influence of OCC Emblazon & GDAR Game Day breeding with 100

direct sons of these bulls selling, plus a total of 145 bulls selling carry Emblazons influence. The

genetics from these dominant sires have excelled in our environment with tremendous uniformity

for type & kind. This kind of consistency is one of the most profitable things we can breed into

our cattle & the bulls we sell to you. They will breed for you in a reliable, predictable manner.

On page 4 of this catalog you can see that we have produced three of the larger Rib Eye Area

bulls of the breed. Our genetic selection of more REA/100 pounds of weight has resulted in our

cattle being heavy muscled, higher yielding, and more profitable in a moderate framed package.

REA/100lbs are listed on each bull selling in this sale. Selecting with this method, rather

than just the biggest REA, can genetically produce a female that meets the type and maternal

HERD HEALTH: All bulls tested negative for PI BVD. All cattle tested Brucellosis free. All cattle sell with proper health papers for interstate shipment. A rigid herd health program is followed. All cattle selling have been calfhood vaccinated with 7 Way Somnus at branding and again at weaning along with IBR, PI3, BVD, BRSV and Ivomec Pour On. All bulls have been fertility tested and scrotal measured and are guaranteed breeders.

GUARANTEEAll bulls selling for $2,000 or more will be covered 50% by Redland Black Angus if they are injured during their first breeding season. Breeding season is defined as the 90-day period following the first turnout of the bulls.

50% of the value of the injured bull, minus one-half salvage value, will be given as credit in a future sale or toward a replacement bull if one is available. Salvage value, if any, will be split equally between Redland Black Angus and the buyer. All injured bulls must be diagnosed by a veterinarian. Please notify us as soon as possible should injury occur and prior to the injured bull being sold for salvage. All claims must be made by September 1, 2012.

Example 1: A $5,000 bull is injured and will not heal. A credit of $2,500 minus one-half any salvage value will be given to the buyer.

Example 2: A $2,000 bull is injured and will not heal. A credit of $1,000 minus one-half of any salvage value will be given to the buyer.

Example 3: A $1,750 bull is injured and will not heal. No credit is given. Buyer retains all salvage value.

Genetics to increase cost efficiency & profitability for the commercial cattleman.

Oscar 734 is one of the most influential bulls we have ever used. He produces range cows with longevity, fertility, high quality udders, fleshing ability, muscle & extremely good structure.

People continue to ask us for 734 sons because they produce some of the best cows they have ever had. 734 exemplifies the qualities that made the angus cow famous on the western range.

RIBEYE AREA, BULL DEVELOPMENT & ULTRASOUND DATA You will note that the average REA’s for our spring bulls is 12.25 sq inches and our summer bulls are 11.0 sq

inches. The summer bulls are run on the cows during the winter and obviously do not gain the same on winter grazing that they would on pasture at other times of the year. The average ultrasound scan weight on the summer bulls is 851#s and average rib fat is .16. The average REA/100#s is 1.39 on the spring bulls and 1.30 on the summer bulls. We believe that REA/100# of body weight is the best indicator of the genetic ability of a bull to transmit muscle. Breed average REA/100# is 1.01 according to American Angus Association data.

Redland bulls and females are handled in a manner that allows their genetic potential to be expressed in a true commercial ranch environment. This insures their longevity and profitability for you as our customer. As bulls are fed with a forage ration of hay and straw their yearling weight, ribeye size, and marbling score all drop. Of course this doesn’t not affect their genetic ability to breed muscle and extra dimension in their progeny.

We feel we compare very favorably siring large REA across the breed if you look at some of the herd sires we have raised. We believe this demonstrates that you can breed cattle with above average thickness and muscle that feeders and packers demand and still leave good females for the western range.

RANGE CALVED - RANGE RAISED®

The cow herd is run on an entirely forage based program. Cows graze year round with only protein block supplementation through the hardest part of the winter. Calves are born unassisted on native range at

7500 ft elevation starting in mid June. Breeding season runs from early September through mid October at the same elevation on native range only. The cows and calves are then moved to lower elevation and run on rough pasture for the remainder of the late fall and winter. Calves are weaned mid February. At Redland Angus we believe that when low input costs, combined with the highest quality Angus genetics available today, are put under this type of selection pressure, quality will invariably rise to the top. The result being the very best type of Angus bulls in our annual sales raised to increase cost efficiency and profitability for the commercial cattleman.

High capacity, deep volume, easy fleshing convertors of grass produce high growth calves with optimum efficiency.

Feed is the major cost in any cow/calf operation.

Research has demonstrated reproduction is from two to ten times more profitable

than carcass traits.

The more efficient a cow herd is at converting roughage, the greaterthe potential for reducing input cost and increasing profitability.

COST EFFICIENCY = PROFITABILITY

For a commercial operation to generate a high level of cost efficient production, it must have a cow herd which will cope with fluctuating nutritional conditions and still be productive without requiring high

levels of supplemental feeding. A low maintenance, productive cow herd that can efficiently utilize available resources is the key. This is a function of body type and not EPD’s or other numbers. All cattle do well when fed grain as it is an environment providing a constant level of ideal nutrition. Not all cattle do well in a grass-based environment with fluctuating levels of nutrition. Any stand-alone commercial breeding operation targeting maximum sustainable net profit is virtually a total grass based production system. At Redland Angus we are raising our cattle in the same method most of our commercial customers do and have found that only generations of cows bred to meet these requirements stand the test. A commercial producer’s net profit is tied to their herds ability to efficiently utilize what grass is available throughout the year. The same is true for us and the cattle we produce and offer for sale.

RANGE CALVED – RANGE RAISED® Production Sale, November 19, 2011 in Buffalo Wyoming.

We are in a time when cow numbers nationwide are at historic lows for the last 50 years and

there is building optimism in the cattle business. Interest is increasing each year for producing

quality beef at a lower cost.

We continue to be very pleased with our RANGE CALVED – RANGE RAISED® method of raising

cattle. All of our cows calve out by themselves, under range conditions. The advantage to you

as a buyer is that by the time the genetics reach you through the bulls, any problems have been

sorted out by natural selection. If they won’t work, they don’t survive to breed any problems into

your herd.

We have worked to align our genetics to fit our environment. The true value of a beef cow is her

ability to convert forage to protein. Our goal is to provide ranchers with the type of genetics that

will allow them to do this with as large a net profit as possible. She must be productive, easy

fleshing, moderate framed & fertile with an excellent udder. No machine can begin to compete

in efficiency or cost of operation with a grazing cow.

You will note the heavy influence of OCC Emblazon & GDAR Game Day breeding with 100

direct sons of these bulls selling, plus a total of 145 bulls selling carry Emblazons influence. The

genetics from these dominant sires have excelled in our environment with tremendous uniformity

for type & kind. This kind of consistency is one of the most profitable things we can breed into

our cattle & the bulls we sell to you. They will breed for you in a reliable, predictable manner.

On page 4 of this catalog you can see that we have produced three of the larger Rib Eye Area

bulls of the breed. Our genetic selection of more REA/100 pounds of weight has resulted in our

cattle being heavy muscled, higher yielding, and more profitable in a moderate framed package.

REA/100lbs are listed on each bull selling in this sale. Selecting with this method, rather

than just the biggest REA, can genetically produce a female that meets the type and maternal

strengths our environment requires.
