with international guest speaker Sir Martin Narey
REDISCOVERING ADOPTION: THE EXPERIENCE OF POLITICAL AND SOCIAL REFORM IN ENGLAND
About Sir Martin Narey In his role as Ministerial Advisor on Adoption, Sir Martin advises the UK government about adoption and other children’s issues, including the reform of social work education. He also chairs the National Adoption Leadership Board. In 2005, Sir Martin Narey became Chief Executive of Barnardo’s UK, during which time he chaired The Campaign To End Child Poverty, and saw Barnardo’s grow by 40% to become, once again, the UK’s biggest children’s charity. Since leaving Barnardo’s, he was then commissioned by The Times to write a major report on adoption. Prior to this, Sir Martin Narey began his career as a prison governor working at a number of prisons becoming Director General of The Prison Service of England and Wales and Home Office Permanent Secretary.
