2.- ACTIVITIESPLANNED FOR AUGUST 19: - SEPTEMBER 9.: 1991. ': y . The field work was completed,August l l , 1991, within the approved project s chedu le . Col lected siamples (sumrr iar izedin a t tached table) have been submitted for laboratory analysis. When the results;are received frbm the laboratpry, they, wil lbe val idate/ We,expect to have the validated results by mid September, 1991. .Work is proceeding to identify the location ,and volumes of waste identified at the iSite. - ; '-. . : ". -

3. DIFFICULTIES ENCOUNTERED OR ANTICIPATED. :: We have supplied the name and qualifications of ChemFix of Massachusetts, the, company cpriducting the treatability study, analyses, for approval; They have provided us with the dpcuriientation that their laboratory facilities are licensed for ;CLP analysis under CERCLA. At your request, we had CheriiFix send you a cbpyof the documentation.. , - ^ - , :;;!'

4. SUMMARY AND SCHEDULE OF ACTIONS TAKEN TO MITIGATE DIFFICULTIES. Because of the stringent time frame of this project, we have already submitted the waste samples for treatability studies to ChemFix. You did inform us that EPA has approved the laboratory for CLP work in the past. You said that you would also check to be sure that the company is still on the approved contractor list. I will call you to confirm this.

CONCLUDING STATEMENTS Please contact me if you have any questions or comments regarding work completed or planned for the Barefoot Landfill Project, or if you require more information. We anticipate submitting the next progress report on September 6, 1991.

Sincerely yours,

WARZYN INC.

1, Field duplicates collected at a rate of 1 per 10 samples.

2, There are no field or trip blanks for solid matrices. A trip blank for VOC analysis will be included with each cooler of groxmdwater samples shipped.

3, Extra volume is required for the TCL organic MS/MSD quality control requirement (triple volume for VOC). MS/MSD analysis performed at a rate of one MS/MSD set of two samples per 20 samples.

4, See Appendix D of the Work Plan for TCL analyte list.

5, Waste samples will be considered mid or high level samples.

6, Based upon four quarters of sampling 9 private water supply wells per quarter.

Notes:

1. Field duplicates collected at a rate of 1 per 10 samples.

2. There are no field or trip blanks for solid matrices. A trip blank for VOC analysis will be included with each cooler of groundwater samples shipped.

3. Extra volume is required for the TCL organic MS/MSD quality control requirement (triple volume for VOC). MS/MSD analysis performed at a rate of one MS/MSD set of two samples per 20 samples.

4. See Appendix D of the Work Plan for TCL analyte list.

5. Waste samples will be considered mid or high level samples.

6. Based upon four quarters of sampling 9 private water supply wells per quarter.
