You may have noticed a pretty conspicuous grocery cart as you enter Church. The Stewardship Committee has decorated our “Baretooth Cupboard Grocery Cart” and plans to make a monthly trip to our food bank with items you put in it. We accept non-perishable items and there are suggested lists in the Cart. The stuffed animal dog and cat “driving” the Grocery Cart are to remind you that we will also donate food to the Beartooth Humane Alliance. You may be asked to help out on the 2nd Sunday of the month by bringing the Shopping Cart in to be dedicated along with the offering. The items will be delivered to the food bank the following Wednesday. Our first month we donated 67 items and in April, 29 items! Thanks for supporting this project. Your Stewardship Committee

Church Council Minutes

May 8, 2018

The monthly meeting of RLCC Council was called to order by Moderator, Debbie Awes. In attendance: Debbie Awes, Debbie Tomicich, Don Kinney, Dixie McCampbell, Pastor Chuck Aurand, Linda Hanson, Skip Bratton, Shirley Petersen Minutes of previous 2 meetings were reviewed and approved. Financial – Debbie Tomicich reported $847 collected for One Great Hour of Sharing. An anonymous $2500, non-restrictive contribution has been made to the church. Treasurer – report given by Dixie McCampbell – contributions to date $28,000. (should be $33,000). Behind budget by $3000. Pastor – Chuck reported that Bible presentation will be done last day of Pentecost. Chuck will be giving a Memorial Day prayer at the cemetery. There will be a farewell reception for Pastor Chuck on June 3, following service. His last service will be June 10, 2018. Moderator – Debbie said any can attend a meet and greet reception at Rocky Mountain College for John Doorbauer, President of UCC. Debbie will be away from May 17 to May 24. Diaconate – Minutes on file. Minutes note that sanctuary colors will be changing. Facilities Management – Skip Bratton reported that meeting will be this Thursday. The committee has received an offer from Red Lodge city tree lady stating the city will share costs of trees in front of church. Church can pick species, pay $90 per tree, city will plant and provide water bags. Skip moved we purchase 4 trees with funds in our Facilities Management reserve fund. Cost not to exceed $400. Motion carried. The pew manufacturer will complete project with the book racks for remainder of pews at cost of $640. Funds were previously approved. The Girl Scouts are using the church for meetings and wish to do a kindness in return. Skip and committee are working with them and they will likely do some cleaning. Stewardship & Missions – Linda Hanson reported that the collection for One Great Hour of Sharing was success-ful. The committee is gearing for 2019 campaign. Finance – Dixie reported that revisions in committee Standing Rules were distributed at last meeting for review and passed copies to all in attendance. Dixie moved that new Standing Rules be approved as rewritten. Shirley seconded. All approved. Dixie reported that the balance of funds ($20,000) in the Marvin Pelo funds were given to a campaign for major repairs at Camp Mimanagish. Marvin was an avid camp counselor and extremely fond of children and their activities, thus the Finance committee saw this as a fitting tribute to him. As time was of the essence to receive match funds into the project, the Finance committee approved the expenditure. Dixie moved that Council approve said disbursement. Debbie seconded and all voted in favor. Old Business – none New Business – Pastor Chuck presented information from Conference minister, Marc Stewart as to the UCC vocabulary regarding replacement pastors. There are several ways in which a pastor can take a church position. We’d been familiar only with INTERIM and its rules. Pastor Chuck excused himself and Don Kinney, chair of Search Committee spoke about the progress they are making in finding a pastor. It was agreed that Council call an informal congregational meeting, to be held after service May 20, 2018 to discuss the differences between INTERIM and DESIGINATED pastor. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully, Shirley Petersen
