Mountain Bike Responsibility Code • Mountain biking involves elements of risk that common sense and personal awareness can help reduce. Please adhere to the responsibility code.• Ride in control and within your ability level. You must be able to avoid other people or objects around you.• Show courtesy and respect to all trail users at all times. • Riders are strongly encouraged to wear a helmet and appropriate protective gear. • Make sure that your bike and components work properly before participating in mountain bike activities. • Stay on designated trails. Keep off closed areas.• Obey all signs and warnings.• Do not stop where you obstruct a trail or are not visible from above.• Be aware of changing conditions on trails and features and other riders.• Before participating in mountain bike activities, familiarize yourself with the trails and choose only those trails within your ability. • Only ride trails with which you are comfortable. When in doubt, walk your bike.• Only ride the trails when there is ample daylight and the weather permits. • Stop and prepare to yield when crossing a road used by vehicles, hikers or other cyclists.• This is a partial list. Be safety conscious. It is your responsibility.

Be SafeMountain biking is a voluntary recreational activity. There are risks involved in participating in mountain biking including uneven/rough terrain, loss of control/balance, collisions with objects, terrain features, trees, rocks, and other riders. Each rider should determine whether he or she is sufficiently skilled and fit to safely participate in this activity. Please use mountain bike trails at your own risk. Trails are not patrolled regularly. Helmet use is strongly recommended. Wintergreen rec-ommends that you do not ride alone. If you are uncomfortable with any section of the trail, please disembark from your bike and walk the portion of the trail with which you are uncomfortable. If you have any questions regarding safety or participating in mountain biking, please speak with a Winter-green representation before riding the trails. Be safe, be responsible and have fun.
