LOIE AND JIM MARESH, Founders
Loie and Jim moved their family to their Dundee farm in 1959 and started a legacy
that continues today with three generations involved in the operation of the business. In
addition to growing and selling grapes from their vineyard, they opened the Red Barn Tasting
Room in 1987 to sell their own wines. The greatest reward was not monetary, but rather the many
enduring friendships formed over the years.

Raised on his family farm, Jim Maresh worked in the vineyards from an early age, learning from his grandparents Jim and Loie Maresh, his mother Martha, and her husband Steve Mikami. His father Fred Arterberry made acclaimed Pinot Noirs in the 1980’s. Jim’s rst winemaking lessons used grapes he gleaned from the family vineyard. As he learned he was mentored by neighbor winemakers including John Paul of Cameron and John Thomas of Thomas Winery.
In 2005 Jim founded Arterberry Maresh, honoring his father's earlier Arterberry label and his Maresh family history. In 2011 his parents founded Powell Hill Winery - Jim is their winemaker.
THE VINEYARDMARESH RED HILLS VINEYARDFirst planted in 1970 and the fth oldest vineyard in Oregon, Maresh is non-irrigated and farmed organically in the Dundee Hills. The fruit is highly sought after by wineries in Oregon. Within the vineyard Jim Maresh has selected sites of predominantly old-vine, own-rooted and non-irrigated Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines for the wines of Arterberry Maresh and Powell Hill.
Wine Advocate calls Maresh Vineyard “a veritable rue des grande cru”
