Preparing the Pages

• Open the last fold and refold so that both edges are folded towards the center crease

• this way you won't have any unfinished edges • the strip of paper will now be about 1/2 inch

wide

Preparing the Pages

• You can use the paper strip as is or glue it shut • I find that it is easier to make a spiral with it

when the paper strip is glued shut• To glue it use the glue gun and run a thin strip

of glue along the bottom of the open edge side and then press together

Making the Base

• Take a paper strip and pull it over a pencil to make it curl

• You have to decide now if you want the foldon top or on the bottom

Making the Base

• Take a paper strip and start at one endand coil it around a pencil

• Keep on windingfor a little bit

Making the Base

• Put some glue on the inside of thepaper strip and press it onto thelittle circle

• You won't have to hold it very long as it will hold quickly

• That's the reason why youuse a glue gun instead ofregular glue which would not dry fast enough

Making the Base

• when you just about run out of a paper strip maybe have about 1 inch left, start a new paper strip and then go back and glue the last paper strip over it

• this makes a nice seam

Making the Base

• keep on adding paper strips until you have the desired size of circle The circle can be used as a coaster

Top side – fold on top Bottom side – fold on bottom

Making the Sides

• Glue paper strips on the outside of the circle, one next to the other until you are back to the first one

Page 15: Recycle Magazines or Catalogs and Make Containers From Them

Craftmeister.MCUniverse.com

Making the Sides

• Create a simple circle with paper strip the same as the diameter of your base circle by gluing the ends together. You can use paper strips that have been joined to make them long enough

Page 16: Recycle Magazines or Catalogs and Make Containers From Them

Making the Sides

• Place the paper strip circle over all the upright strips, this holds the uprights together

Page 17: Recycle Magazines or Catalogs and Make Containers From Them

Craftmeister.MCUniverse.com

Making the Sides

• Now take a paper strip and glue it over the bottoms of upright strips

• Next fold the uprights down and glue themto the bottom

Page 18: Recycle Magazines or Catalogs and Make Containers From Them

Making the Sides

• Glue another paper strip around the folded down uprights.

• I had a problem as the paper strip wasonly a little bit longer than the circumference of the circle and theends stuck out at anodd angle

Page 19: Recycle Magazines or Catalogs and Make Containers From Them

Making the Sides

• So I cut a one inch strip ofpaper from a magazine that was taller

• I cut and folded it to the same size as the other stripsand then glued it around thebase (the downward foldedstrips) to make it look neater

• Or you can use the longer strip from the beginning

The Finished Holder

• Once I was all done I realize that these containers make greatglass or can holders for cold drinks
