“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive good or evil, according to what he has done in the body.” 2 Corinthians 5:10 We are accountable for the gifts God has given us on Earth—our time, talent and treasure. One day each of us will be asked by God what we did with those gifts. How will you respond? Beginning the week of June 24th, a small library of study mate-rials will be available for you to check out for personal use. The materials will be on a table in the vestibule. These materials (dvds, tapes, books) are for continued adult faith formation in your home and include items related to past Adult Faith Forma-tion programs in our parish. Also available are the complete retreat talks of Fr. Oscar Lukefehr from last October.

SECOND READING: Acts of the Apostles 13:22-26 John heralded Jesus’ coming by proclaiming a baptism of re-pentance. John was not the Messiah but the forerunner of the One who was to come. JUNE 17, 2012

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! I wish to express my gratitude to God for all our fathers, living and deceased. They reflect the image of God our Father as they watched over us, protected us, and provided for our needs by their sacrificial lives. May we celebrate this day appreciating the gift of our fathers as God’s special gift to us, offer a prayer for them, always love them and never take them for granted. May St. Joseph, holy spouse of our Blessed Mother and foster father of Christ, bless our fathers in living out their vocations as loving spouse and devout fathers.

KNIGHTS of COLUMBUS PRO-LIFE FUNDRAISER

Don’t forget to return your baby bottle at any weekend Mass dur-ing the month of June. One-hundred percent of the funds raised in this effort will go to the K of C “Meet Life” campaign which places modern ultrasound machines in women’s health centers around the state of Missouri. Research has shown that 90% of women who “meet” their child through these modern machines (which can detect a heartbeat at six week) choose to carry their baby to full term. Thank you for your generosity.

REFLECTIONS FROM NATIONAL RIGHT to LIFE On this Father’s Day, there are many fathers denied the privilege of raising a child because of abortion. “Abortion leaves indelible footprints in the texture of masculinity, in the recesses of a man’s heart, and in his reproductive history. A father is a father forever, even of a dead unborn child.” These men need healing prayer.” (The Hollow Men: Male Grief and Trauma Following Abortion, pamphlet by Vincent M. Rue, Ph.D.)

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION The Sisters at St. Paul’s Books & Media, 9804 Watson, have Eucharistic Adoration on the third Tuesday of every month from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and are in need of a few volunteers to spend an hour before our Blessed Lord. For more information, please call Cathy at 961-1143.

HUMANAE VITAE MASS and DINNER Join in celebration and solidarity as Archbishop Robert Carlson commemorates the 44th anniversary of Humanae Vitae (Of Hu-man Life), on Saturday, June 30th at 5:00 p.m. at the Cathedral Basilica. A dinner reception catered by Pasta House with family entertainment will follow in Boland Hall. Reservations and pay-ment are necessary for the dinner reception (adults $10, children over three $6, maximum family charge $50). Please rsvp to the Office of Natural Family Planning at 997-7576. This is an excel-lent opportunity to support our archbishop in his fight for our reli-gious freedom. The Word became flesh to make us “partakers of the divine na-ture.” For this is why the Word became man, and the Son of God became the Son of man: so that man, by entering into com-munion with the Word and thus receiving sonship, might become a son of God.” CCC 460

AFFTON CHRISTIAN FOOD PANTRY UPDATE (by Terry Schermann)

Please help fill the barrels for the ACFP with bath and hand soap, deodorant, lotion, razors and blades, shaving cream, shampoo, toothpaste, dental floss and mouthwash. Or how about cleaning supplies for the house or laundry?

WELCOME NEW PARISHIONERS

Good people of Curé of Ars, I come to you as a “retired” priest. But if the truth is told, most of us who are priests do not feel that we can ever retire. Among us that stay in parishes and work, and there are many these days, are men who want to die with their boots on. It is my hope in coming here that I may serve you as best as I am able, and that I can provide some relief from obligations for your good, but very busy pastor, Monsignor Mark Rivituso. Just a little background so that we can become friends more quickly: Most of my grade school years were spent at St. Ann in

Normandy. I was ordained out of Ascension of Our Lord in

Normandy. This will be the eleventh parish in which I have served,

the others being (in order), Annunziata in Ladue, St. Pius X in Glasgow Village, Our Lady of Fatima in Florissant, Nativity of Our Lord in Walnut Park area of the city, St. Edward and Most Holy Rosary, both in the city, St. Sebastian in Dellwood, St. Richard in Creve Coeur, Queen of All Saints in Oakville, and just these past five years, Sacred Heart in Old Town Florissant. That is the good news. The downside is that six of the above listed parishes are shuttered.

I was also on staff at Rosary High School for 16 years as a professinal counselor.

Currently, I am serving on an Archdiocesan board that provides scholarships for education, serving one (soon may be two) days a week as a chaplain at DePaul Hospital, and serve as a trustee of a charitable foundation that provides scholarships to Native Americans. These involvements will continue into my retirement. I am very much a Cardinals fan (rejoicing to be so close to Metrolink), and never met a golf course that I didn’t like. I am happy to be close to Regina Cleri where I can “hang out” more often and play pinochle with brother priests. And in the seminary, I was known to my classmates by many nicknames, but mostly, “Bobby Buick.” Is there really any other car made? Finally, as a priest, my favored activities are preaching and being a confessor. And just call me “Father Bob”...don’t worry about my long last name. Father Bob Dorhauer
