Introduction

The Inception of Indian Railways begins from April 16, 1853 and the Headquarters of Indian Railway is in New Delhi, India. 

Indian Railway is one of the largest world’s railway networks which is appreciated and accepted by the rest world. The tracks of the Indian Railways are spreading over 115000 km in the route of 65000 km and 7500 stations.

Indian Railways is divided into 16 zones . Indian Railways has around 1.3 million of employees dedicated to sharpen the quality and workings of Indian Railways. And Indian Railways keep recruiting more employees throughout the year.

Railways Jobs are the one of the highly preferred and searchable jobs by the desirable candidates and also having a huge scope in India. Well, Indian Railway are never ending network in India that means there may be a chances of Advancement and Development but there will be 0% Percent chances of the termination of Indian Railways.

Railways Jobs Eligibility Criteria:

The Eligibility Criteria for the Railways Jobs is generally depends on the nature of post or job. If the posts are related to Technical you need to have a degree in the Technical Education, if job is related to Human Resource, then you need to have a degree on the same. But if we look usually, a candidate have to pass a Graduation Degree to get Railway Job  and the candidate should be between 18-45 of age to apply for the Railway Jobs, the rest is depends on the nature of posts or jobs.

Railways Jobs Procedures:

The Procedures to apply for the Railways Jobs is sometimes easy and sometimes difficult. But initially you have to look for the vacancies and follow the recruitment notification. You have to Apply Online for the posts or have to send you filled application form with the required documents and Demand Draft to the respective offices of Indian Railways.

Recruitment & Selection

IR classifies its employees in 4 groups.

o The gazetted staff,

Group “A” & Group “B” (Higher posts).

o Non-gazetted staff,

Group “C” (clerical, supervisory staff )

Group “D” (technical, other maintenance staff)

Group “A” & “B” officers are selected through the Union Public Service Commission, they are civil servants.

Selection of Group “C” employees is also on a national basis, through the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), which is run by existing railway officials.

Group “D” employees are recruited through Railway Selection Boards (RSBs) with assistance of the local employment exchanges.

All zonal railways fill 15% and 7.5% of their vacancies in Group C and Group D categories from the candidates belonging to SCs and STs respectively.

Written exam: On the basis of total applications received, the candidates will be called for a written exam. The written exam will consist of objective type questions. The candidates scoring at least 60 per cent marks will be considered qualified in the written exam. The candidates belonging to reserved category are required to score at least 50 per cent marks.

Paper Pattern Details:

There will be an objective type question paper having multiple choice questions on the below mentioned topics for the concerned recruitment exam:

1) General Awareness

2) General Intelligence

3) General English

4) Arithmetic Ability

5) Reasoning Ability and

6) Technical Ability as per the post applied

Total Number of Questions: 150 Total Time Allotted: 120 Minutes/ 2 Hours There shall be negative marking in the form of one-third

marks being deducted for all the attempted questions in the concerned examination.

Psychological Aptitude Test: The candidates who successfully pass the written test will be called for a psychological aptitude test.

Personal Interview: The psychological aptitude test will be followed by an interview.

Document scrutiny: The candidates who clear the interview session will be called for the scrutiny of documents as per merit order.

Medical Examination: The candidates with all clear records as per merit will be called for prescribed medical exam.

The selected and medically fit candidates will be provisionally appointed based on the merit position and the availability of the vacancy and will be thereafter, required to undergo training as per the requirement of the post.

  Once, the candidates complete their training sessions

successfully, they shall be appointed on regular basis.
