Policies and Procedures

ScholarshipsLake County Government and the Recreation Department work hard to ensure that all residents of Lake County have an opportunity to access recreation programs and facilities. To help make this possible the Recreation Department provides scholarships to residents in our community.

Scholarships will be limited in number and given to those who may not otherwise be able to afford to participate in recreation programs. Funds will be awarded on a case-by-case basis. They are first come, first served, and some restrictions may apply. For more information, or to receive an application please contact the Recreation Department at 719-486-7494 or [email protected]

SponsorshipsThe Lake County Recreation Department is dedicated to delivering diverse recreational opportunities for residents of Lake County. Sponsors play an important role, allowing us to provide top-notch programming at little or no cost to our community members who might not have the financial resources to participate.

Refunds & CreditsDue to COVID, the Lake County Recreation Department has adapted our refund and credit policy. Refunds will not be offered if participants choose to withdraw from a program that has not been canceled. Please do not sign up for a program that you cannot commit to attending. Participants enrolled in programs that are postponed, modified or canceled after their start date will only be eligible for a credit to their account. Credits can be used towards future program registrations. If a program is canceled by the Recreation Department before it starts, a full refund will be offered. Refunds take 7-10 business days to process.

To find out how you can participate in our sponsorship opportunities,

contact Karen Lewis at 719-486-7494 or [email protected].

Mineral Belt TrailThe Mineral Belt Trail is a 12-mile paved pathway that circles historic Leadville. This year-round, non-motorized trail is multi-use and can be utilized for a variety of activities. In the summer months walking, biking and running are popular pastimes for trail users. Once the snow flies the trail is beautifully groomed from December – March and can be used for walking, skiing and fat biking.

DID YOU KNOW it costs about $420.00 every time the trail is groomed in addition to other annual maintenance costs such as paving, seal-coats, signage and general upkeep? Consider making a donation to this beloved trail at: https://www.mineralbelttrail.com
