Ideas for your Resources Box Overleaf, we provide a range of ideas of things you can buy. However, there are plenty of resources that you can download from the Reading Coach resources tabs on the website to get your box started. All the resources on the website have been designed specifically to complement the Turning Pages programme. Some of them will be available to view and try at the Initial and Consolidation Coach training days.

Ideally, your box would contain one set of everything available, but we would encourage you to start with at least those resources designed to go with Manual 1. Please make sure you remind your Coaches to explore the resources available on the website and to ask you if they need more printed out.

It would be particularly useful if you can print out one set of each of the Handwriting Packs (see below) for the Resources Box so that Coaches can see what is available.

You may also like to have in your box:

● Pack of coloured pipe cleaners – for making the letter shapes to help those Readers who learn by touch

● Small mirror – for practising phonics and watching shape of mouth

● Social Sight Words on cards (the Dolch or Fry lists on Read Easy website could be used as a guide for making cards)

● A ring binder containing:

● List of what should be in the box

● ‘Library lending’ book to record what is borrowed and who has borrowed it

● Examples of downloadable resources from other websites, such as BBC Skillswise

● Copies of catalogues from Barrington Stokes, Gatehouse Books, Forward with Phonics, etc.

Your Regional Adviser can offer support and ideas about which resources may be most useful and how you can use them at Coach Meetings.

Letter and ‘initial blend’ cards, bingo, domino and other games,

are all available from the website, along with blank templates
