Introduction

KEYSERT®

Thread Repair Inserts

The Solid Alternative for Thread RepairKeyserts are solid, one-piece, key-locking inserts used to repair damaged threads orfor use in original equipment. The Keysert locking keys provide a positive mechani-cal lock which prevents rotation due to vibration or torsion. Keyserts are available incarbon or stainless steel, both in inch and metric series. Thinwall, Heavy Duty, ExtraHeavy Duty, and Solid insert styles are available separately or in kits containing arange of sizes. Installation tools are also available separately or in a range kit.

Installation and RemovalInstallation

Drill out old threads Tap new threads with Screw in the insert until Drive keys down with a standard drill. a standard tap. See slightly below surface. with severalNote: Drill is oversize - charts for proper size hammer taps onsee charts for proper and depth. the properdimensions. Chamfer installation tool.the hole with a standardcountersink (82°-100°).

Removal

Drill out material Deflect keys inward Remove insert using Same size replacementbetween keys and and break off. an E-Z Out or insert may be installedinternal thread with similar type tool. in the original hole.standard drill to specified depth (referto charts for properdimensions).
